How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced technical support :

From the Home screen on the printer control panel, select Reports. Select Configuration/Status Pages. Select Configuration Page. Select Print to print the configuration and Jetdirect pages.
Type the IP address into the address line of a Web browser to open the printer EWS. On the Networking tab, select Settings under Security in the left-hand menu list. Select the Restore Defaults tab. Click on Restore Defaults at the bottom of the page to restore the factory defaults.
When your printer calibrates, it is checking for a toner patch that is laid on the ETB or transfer belt assembly. It is also adjusting the location or registration of where each color is laid. If you change one of the toner cartridges or the transfer belt it will automatically calibrate itself.
To calibrate your LCD panel on a Windows 10 computer, go to Settings > Display > Calibrate display color. Then go follow the steps to set your gamma, brightness, contrast, and colors. You can also use online tools to calibrate your LCD panel .
Select the Start button, then select Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners . Under Printers & scanners, look for your printer. If you see your printer listed, you`ll know it`s installed.
Color calibration enables your printer to produce consistent colors with the particular printheads, inks and paper type that you are using, and under your particular environmental conditions.
If you`re working with video on an LCD monitor, the recommended white point is 6500K or D65. This is also known as the native temperature of your monitor. If you`re working with still images that you plan to print, the white point of 5000K (D50) is recommended, as it looks more like white on paper.
Calibration error is the difference between the actual value of a physical quantity and the value measured by a sensor. It can result from various factors, such as sensor drift, nonlinearity, hysteresis, noise, interference, or environmental conditions.
The calibration correction is equal to the difference between the value displayed by the instrument during calibration, and the certified value of the standard.
Click Start, point to Settings, and the click Printers. Right-click the appropriate printer, and then click Properties. Click the Paper tab, and then click the paper size you want to use in the Paper Size box.
Press your printer`s Setup button. Go to System Setup. Choose Print Quality and then Calibrate Color. Choose Calibrate Now and press OK.
Check for issues with the ink cartridges

Very low ink levels, using non-HP cartridges, and rough handling can cause print quality issues. Replace any non-HP or refilled cartridges with genuine HP cartridges. HP supplies are available from the HP Store and local retailers.

My 2550n Color LaserJet does not want to print in color
ANSWER : That model had issues with the carousel solenoid sticking. That might explain why it works after you let it sit for 10 minutes. The solenoid gets hotter with use which causes the deteriorated foam on it to become sticky and hold down the release plate instead of letting it go. This allows the carousel to spin when it is supposed to stop for each color. The solenoid is located on the right side of the printer. If you open the lid, it is just behind the opening at the top right. You need to remove the top of the printer and scrape off the goo on top of the solenoid body. I put a piece of thin sticky backed felt to replace it. Other people use electrical tape.

HP Color Laserjet blank pages – only jetdirect page
ANSWER : What about the engine test? To do that, drop down the front tray. Feel around on the left side at the top and you’ll feel a little plastic dongle. If you lift up on that it will initiate an engine test page. That will be a page containing lines of each color.
