How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

If your printer is running low on ink, it may start printing blank pages. To check your ink levels, go to your printer`s control panel and select the Ink Levels option. Whenever the ink levels are low, replace the cartridges with new ones. You can also try shaking the cartridge gently to redistribute the ink.
Several factors may cause the product to print blank pages, such as print settings, low ink, or the product itself. Check the following: Make sure the product is placed on a flat, stable surface that extends beyond the base in all directions. The product won`t operate properly if it`s tilted or at an angle.
Dots are typically caused by foreign material inside the machine (for example paper dust, glue from labels or envelopes, paper clips, staples) sticking to or damaging the surface of the drum. Toner builds up on or sticks to these areas on the drum and creates black dots on the printed pages.
If you`ve checked your ink cartridges and they still have enough ink to print, chances are that your printer might still randomly produce blanks. Some of the reasons why you still get blank printouts include: Congested nozzles. Improper cartridge installation.
Even if your cartridge is full and ready for action, it may have become slightly dislodged and no longer in full electrical contact with the printer. The easiest way to rectify this potential problem is to simply remove and reinstall the cartridges.
Paper Jams

This is a common laser printer problem. Primary causes include grime, dust, worn rollers, or incorrect paper weight. The most basic way to prevent paper jams is simply through regular cleaning of your printer. Also, replace parts as needed.

An inkjet printer is a computer peripheral that produces hard copies of a text document or photo by spraying droplets of ink onto paper. A typical inkjet printer can produce color printing copies with a resolution of 1200 x 1440 dpi.
For cleaning, HP recommends using HP Equipment Cleaning Wipes, but you can use an HP-approved lint-free wipe and deionized or distilled water. Note: If dark spots appear on back side of prints, clean drum screen. Note: If minilab prints more than 2000 prints each day, clean drum screen up to twice daily.
If the fillable fields in a PDF show as blank after getting filled in, the PDF will need to be printed to a new PDF to resolve this issue. This is typically caused when the PDF is filled using something other than Acrobat (i.e., a web browser or other PDF editing software).
You can visually inspect the remaining cartridge levels on your printer. If they are full but you still cannot print properly, check the cartridge`s expiry date. Expired ink cartridges often dry up which causes problems in the print results.
Here are the most common causes of a printer printing faded text or images: Low ink or toner levels. Toner sticking to the fuser roller or problems with the transfer roller. Low ink or toner density settings.
If your HP printer not printing black ink correctly, here`s what you should do. Using non-genuine ink cartridges. Printheads that have become clogged. Ink cartridges that are defective or empty.
The most obvious is most common on laser color printers and can be detected by a flashing message on the printer display screen. Other signs of a bad printer drum include printing blank pages, printing gray pages and strange sounds coming from the printer as it prints.
As print quality goes down over time, this will be a reason to replace the color printer. We find a black and white printer can sometimes last 10 years or more and most color laser printers are replaced every 3 to 5 years.
Some of the most common printer problems that most of us have experienced include paper jamming, slow printing, uneven printing, and wrong colour output. If you use your printer frequently, we know how annoying it can be to have persisting problems with the printer.
The warranty period for the printheads is 1000 cc of ink through the printhead (previously 700 cc), or the expiration date printed on the printhead, whichever comes first. However, printheads may last much longer than 1000 cc of ink. On average, printheads should last through 2-3 ink cartridges.
Fill a bowl with warm water (or a mixture of water and vinegar to clean the printhead) and place the printhead directly in it. Let it sit for five minutes or so. Pull the printhead out of the water and use a lint-free cloth or paper towel to remove the dried ink.
Clean the printhead weekly. Some applications may require more frequent cleaning. Check your printhead regularly. Operation in unusual conditions may require more frequent cleaning.
Clean Your Print Cartridge Manually

First, locate your print head. Next, dip a q-tip in a mixture of isopropyl alcohol and warm, not hot, water. Swab the q-tip along your print head and dislodge any dry pieces of ink that may be causing blockages.

Yes, you can.

tested the performance of Original HP ink cartridges vs. remanufactured (refilled) brands. The results: Original HP ink cartridges far surpassed ink refills in both print quality and reliability.

Heater. In a thermal inkjet printhead the mechanism that boils the ink, creating pressure that expels the ink from the nozzle.
Most HP laser printers have the drum unit incorporated into the toner cartridge. But for Brother laser printers, the drum units come separately so you will need to replace these in addition to the toner cartridges.
There are many factors that determine the actual drum life, such as the temperature, humidity, type of paper, type of toner used, number of pages per print job and so on. Under ideal conditions, the average drum life is estimated at approximately 12,000 pages.

My 2550n Color LaserJet does not want to print in color
ANSWER : That model had issues with the carousel solenoid sticking. That might explain why it works after you let it sit for 10 minutes. The solenoid gets hotter with use which causes the deteriorated foam on it to become sticky and hold down the release plate instead of letting it go. This allows the carousel to spin when it is supposed to stop for each color. The solenoid is located on the right side of the printer. If you open the lid, it is just behind the opening at the top right. You need to remove the top of the printer and scrape off the goo on top of the solenoid body. I put a piece of thin sticky backed felt to replace it. Other people use electrical tape.
