HP Color LaserJet 2550N
My printer prints Black and white files without any problem but when I send it a file with color content it just puts out blank pages – no toner at all on the page. By removing the cartridges, removing the power cord for 10 minutes, returning the cartridges and the power I can get the printer to output a few pages with color. However it then returns to blank pages for color content. I have tried the engine test, the configuration test page and the demo page tests. The engine test shows that the registration is OK. When the configuration page prints (i.e. after removing the cartridges, power etc.) all the information prints normally except sometimes a color will be missing. However the color will show up on the following supplies status page.

That model had issues with the carousel solenoid sticking. That might explain why it works after you let it sit for 10 minutes. The solenoid gets hotter with use which causes the deteriorated foam on it to become sticky and hold down the release plate instead of letting it go. This allows the carousel to spin when it is supposed to stop for each color. The solenoid is located on the right side of the printer. If you open the lid, it is just behind the opening at the top right. You need to remove the top of the printer and scrape off the goo on top of the solenoid body. I put a piece of thin sticky backed felt to replace it. Other people use electrical tape.

How to Identify and Fix Common printer Problems ?

Check the ink levels and replace the color ink cartridge if it is low/empty. Check if the color ink light is blinking on the printer. The ink cartridges that come with the printer are setup ink cartridges that are required to initialize the printer. During initialization, a large quantity of ink is used.
To be specific, you should make sure that your printer has sufficient paper, ink or toner and without paper jam. If the printer cartridge`s status is faulty, you should replace it with a new one. After carrying out these operations, check if the HP printer can print properly. If not, try other methods immediately.
HP EasyColor scans documents and automatically adjusts photographic images in . JPEG or . PNG format. Rather than dividing an image into several pieces, HP EasyColor technology enhances the entire image at one time, which results in improved color consistency, sharper details, and faster printing.
Clean the printheads: Sometimes the issue why you are unable to print in color is because our printheads are clogged with ink. Clean the printheads and then print a document to check if color printing works. Some printers also have in-built programs that can clean themselves so remember to check for that.
First, check your printer settings on the file or picture your trying to print. If your page is setup to print in “grayscale” it will only print in black and white. Change the setting to “default” so it will print in color. If your settings look good from the start, the cartridge may just need to be primed.
If your PC or the LCD screen on your printer is telling you that your ink cartridges are full but no ink is passing through to the paper, then it`s most likely that you are dealing with a clogged printhead. Blurry documents and images that appear faded are also signs that it`s time to remove the excess ink.
You can continue to print with one or more empty cartridges, but HP recommends replacing them as soon as possible to avoid printhead damage. 932, 933, 950, 951-959, 962-969 cartridges: Ink is required in all cartridges to print and to perform periodic servicing to prevent clogs and other print quality issues.
The basic colours are cyan, a combination of blue and green; magenta, a combination of red and blue; and yellow, a combination of red and green. Many ink makers and printers call cyan “process blue,” magenta “process red,” and yellow “process yellow.”
Why is your printer printing pink? Your printer may be printing pink as the other ink cartridges have run out. Common printer-to-page technology processes colour in four parts; cyan, magenta, yellow and black (CMYK), or toner. The ink cartridges in your inkjet or colour laser printer are split up into four colours.
After all, colors will pop more against a rich black than they will against gray. When you order full color print, we recommend using 80% cyan, 80% magenta, 80% yellow, and 95% black to ensure that your black appears as dark and rich as possible.
Why is my printer printing yellow not red? It is most likely that your image is yellow where you were expecting it to be red and you may also notice that blue parts of the image appear turquoise instead. Both of these effects are caused by a lack of magenta ink/toner on your prints.
