Solution. There are several reasons for Error 5100 to appear, including a paper jam, an improperly seated ink tank, and more. Encoder (Timing) Strip on the printer needs cleaning. Manual cleaning can be done on some models.
Make sure the ink cartridges are properly installed. Push up the ink cartridge lock lever until it clicks. Make sure that the ink cartridge holder motion is not impeded by stabilizer, jammed paper, etc. Remove any impediment.
When the message “5100 / 5110 Printer error has occurred. Turn off power then back on again. If problem persists, see the manual.” is displayed, the behavior of the print head holder has interrupted.
The printer may be damaged or not function properly. Confirm that the print head lock lever is locked securely. Push both tabs of the print head lock lever until each clicks into place. Make sure the ink tanks are properly installed.

ANSWER : Look for a protruding plastic on the top that goes into an indentation. Mine was in the front left side. Put a piece of cardboard into the indentation.and close the door. The top plastic piece is not pushing the door close sensor down and because its too short and the cardboard allows the sensor to be reached and pushed.
