How to print on thick paper/cardstock. Open your document and select File > Print. Before sending your document to print, select Properties which will open your printer`s driver settings. Find the Paper Settings tab, this will allow you to select various media types that your printer can handle.
(1) Open the front tray gently. (2) Holding the right tab on the front tray, pull out the feeder until it stops. (3) Use the right paper guide (A) to slide both paper guides all the way out. (4) Load the paper in the center of the feeder WITH THE PRINT SIDE FACING DOWN.
To resolve this issue, change the default paper size of your printer: Click Start, point to Settings, and the click Printers. Right-click the appropriate printer, and then click Properties. Click the Paper tab, and then click the paper size you want to use in the Paper Size box.
Most 300gsm card printers are likely to have a manual feed option, or a bypass tray which allows the thicker card to pass through the printer withought being bent or folder around the twists and turns of the main paper path from tray to output.
The most common weights — or thickness — used for printing documents are 20 lb to 28 lb laser paper. Laser printer paper can come in a variety of weights, up to 60 lb and beyond. It`s important to remember that the thicker the paper, the more difficult it may be to correctly fuse ink to each sheet.
The most popular formats of the traditional sizes are the Letter (8.5 × 11 inches), Legal (8.5 × 14 inches) and Tabloid (11 × 17 inches) formats. You more than likely use these formats in your everyday life. Letter is the standard for business and academic documents.
Another printer for 110 lb cardstock and above is the Canon Pixma Pro 100. The model has a rear tray capable of printing on 200 lb cardstock and a specially designed manual feed system compatible with cardstock up to 236 lb, or a thickness of 0.6mm. The Pro 100 is compatible with larger media (up to 13 x 19”).
If you are printing on paper over 200gsm, it is advisable that you use the bypass tray rather than a paper tray, as it passes the sheet on the straightest route through the printer, which will reduce the risk of paper jams, as the thick paper is less flexible than thin paper.
Turn the printer off and open the printer cover. The paper-thickness lever is located on the left side of the printer. The numbers next to the lever indicate the thickness setting. Use the table below to select the appropriate paper thickness.
