HP Photosmart 3310
I have in my posession an OLD HP 3310 Photosmart printer. Obviously all six the Ink cartridges have EXPIRED DATES. The machine will not run because the ink has dried out. I hope to use this printer as a copy machine. The machine will not operate because the ink date has expired on all six cartridges. IS THERE ANY WAY THAT I CAN PASS PAPER THROUGH THE MACHINE WITHOUT REPLACING THE BLACK CARTRIDGE? All I want to do is to see if the machine will pass paper so that I can make further tests. Messages indicate that there is “…not enough ink to ensure printer health…”. The message infers that it will print with only the black cartridge. If the machine can move paper, I’ll buy a black cartridge and make more tests. Thank you. Ken Piletic – [email protected]

You could try disconnecting the printer from the computer. Then change the date on the panel to prior to the expiration date. That should fool it.

How to Identify and Fix Common printer Problems ?

After all, expired printer cartridges from HP can be used without any problems even one to two years beyond the expiration date without any restrictions. However, once the printer cartridges are even older, you should overlook using them. This is especially true if your printer has a standalone print head.
Can I still use the cartridge after the expiration date? If your cartridge is stored properly in the correct environment, you might still be able to use it after the expiration date. Granted, a sealed ink cartridge won`t last forever, but most are designed to last for at least two years after the purchase date.
Ink cartridges can usually last two or three years if properly packaged and stored. But in a standard case, they will eventually dry out and become useless after this period. However, many major ink cartridge makers don`t put expiration dates on their cartridges.
The HP toner cartridges used with this product contain a memory chip that assists in the operation of the product. In addition, this memory chip collects a limited set of information about the usage of the product, which might include the following: The date when the toner cartridge was first installed.
Transport your cartridges properly.

Keep the cartridge in a `print head down` position as much as possible. This will keep ink at the print head which minimizes drying out. Do not put your cartridges in a plastic bag because the bag can easily contact the print head and cause ink to leak from the cartridge.

Why the Printer Cartridge won`t Move. A paper jam is usually the reason why an HP printer cartridge gets stuck on the right side. Pushing the paper excessively into the printer, on the other hand, is the most common cause of a paper jam. You should only push the paper until the first resistance.
Disable the Cartridge Policy feature

In the Device Management pane, select the printers (or printer group) to configure. In the bottom navigation pane, select Config, and then select Supplies. In the Cartridge Policy section, select Off. Click Apply.

When you send a print job from your computer, the computer tells the printer where to deposit the ink or toner. If there isn`t enough ink or toner left in the cartridge, the printer will display a low or empty sign to indicate you should replace the cartridge soon.
Click on the Windows orb and then “Devices and Printers.” Find your printer under the “Printer and Faxes” section and right-click on it to select “Properties.” If the port tab exists, click on the “Port” tab and deselect “Enable Bi-Directional Support.” Click “Apply and then “OK.”
