Unknown Printer
I know this may sound off the wall, but ever since I installed my new Epson Printer my wifi has been on the fritz. I have a signal, but it just kind of blows in & out with the breeze. This has been going on for 3-1/2 months!!!! Umpteen phone calls to CenturyLink, 2 new modems, but they don’t help. I have had CenturyLink Internet for 12-15 years in this same house. The only change has been that printer. At initial setup the printer did create another network. Epson finally walked me through getting rid of that, but it didn’t help. I’m surprised I have any hair left in my head at all!!! This is driving me CRAZY! Does anyone know if this is even the slightest bit possible

Experienced technical support provide their insights in answering this question :
It really doesn’t sound possible. Have you tried disconnecting the printer and seeing if that restores your wifi? I’ve had problems with my Internet service provider before. I found that I knew more than their techs did. The last problem I had was due to the router. They gave me a new one, but it had the same issues. I went out and bought a decent one and that fixed my problem.

How to Identify and Fix Common printer Problems ?

If another wireless network is operating in the vicinity, then change the wireless channel on the access point. Do not place your access point on a printer or other electronic device. Such devices can also interfere with the wireless signal.
Restart the printer and the computer or mobile device to clear possible error conditions. Restore Wi-Fi setup mode. Most printers with a touchscreen display or menu: Open the Wireless or Setup menu, select Network setup or Settings, and then select Restore Network Settings.
Check Cables and Printer USB Ports

Check all cable connections (including the power cord) on the printer side. If the printer does have power and you`ve properly connected the communication cable, but the printer is still not recognized, try switching to a different USB port on the PC.

Due to the majority of today`s multi-functional printer`s having wireless capabilities, it opens them up as an attack gateway and makes them susceptible to viruses and malware.
Many HP Printers will broadcast their own Wi-Fi Network, allowing users to connect directly to the printer instead of going through the regular network (Wi-Fi or Ethernet). While this adds convenience, IF the printer is also connected to your local network it is not as secure.
One way is through infected software. This happens more commonly when a printer is connected through a computer or a WiFi network, and installing infected software that way can cause it to get a virus.
Open the start menu and select Control Panel > Administrative Tools > and choose the Services icon. Locate the Print Spooler service and right-click. Then select the option to “Stop” the service.
Almost all printer`s can print out a network configuration page, which shows the printer`s IP address. Check your printer`s manual for specific instructions, but generally, you can do this via your printer`s settings, or by long-pressing a certain button.
A network printer is part of a workgroup or network of computers that can all access the same printers at the same time. A network printer does not have to have a physical connection to the network. Instead, it can be connected wirelessly and assigned to a workgroup.
Most modern models have wi-fi built-in, but if yours doesn`t, there are still ways of making it work wirelessly by connecting it to a router. But before you can start printing, you must first connect the printer to your home network – all you`ll need is a wireless router and a wi-fi printer.
If the printer is wireless, the router`s built-in firewall may be blocking the printer`s IP address as an unrecognized device; you may need to temporarily disable the firewall in order to register or add the address to the router`s trusted device list, also known as a whitelist.
Although most printers have wireless capabilities, some models have more connectivity options. Depending on what you`re using your printer for, you may prefer one option over another.
Un-authorized printing jobs− If your machine is printing unknown documents that nobody authorized, your printer may be compromised. Error messages− If your printer is displaying error messages or printing documents with error messages instead of the actual document, your printer may be corrupted.
Almost all printers can print out a network configuration page, which will include the printer`s IP address. If your printer has a user interface (UI) display, the configuration page can generally be printed by going to the Settings or Setup page.
Keep printer and router separated by at least three feet (about 1 meter). “Too far” depends on the router – a robust router with four antennas is going to provide better coverage (and distance) than would a smaller, weaker device.
Common factors include driver problems, software issues, hardware failures and overuse.
To fix the error code 0x0000011b related to networked or shared printers, Microsoft says you should disable the print spooler privacy settings on both the Client PC (from which you work) and Print Server (Workstation to which the printer is attached).
As long as your computer and the printer are both connected to the same wireless router, you will be able to print wirelessly, and since you computer remains connected to the wireless router, you will maintain internet connectivity.

Reasons Why Internet Keeps Dropping

You are connected to a bad Wi-Fi hotspot. Defective cable from your modem / router to your computer. Wi-Fi hotspot strength is insufficient – you may be near the edge of the WiFi network. Wi-Fi network is overloaded – happens in crowded areas – on the street, stadiums, concerts, etc.
