I often get a paper jam error message for Tray 1, but there is no jam to be found anywhere.

Experienced technical support provide their insights in answering this question :
Tray No. 1 (the feeder) has to be either FULLY closed or FULLY down, down to about a 45 degree angle. Then hit the OK button and it should Initialize and start working. This solution is for when there is actually NO paper jamming the printer.

Paper jam in tray 2 (but no paper pulled from tray) also M476DN models
ANSWER : Isopropyl alcohol is not recommended for rubber rollers. It dries out the rubber and hasten it’s cracking and breaking. It will do nothing to restore the grip. Those rollers are really hard to replace. It would be easy if that dumbass secondary menu really worked. None of the techs I’ve spoke to ever got into it. Everyone I know sends a print job and listens for the roller to rotate into position where you can pull it off.

Tray 1 (upper tray) paper feed problem

Paper Jam error but no paper jam
ANSWER : Obviously you didn’t get all the paper cleared out. There is a small scrap in the paper path causing the jam when the paper hits it. You can try clearing it out by inserting something stiff like a piece of file folder from the back of the printer into the paper path and pushing the offending piece out that way.
