Thanks for the “loose, white rectangular piece” comment in my 990cse. I found this same white piece of rubber today jamming up the cleaning station carriage assembly and was wondering where it came from!

How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

If the contacts between the cartridge and the printer are dirty or clogged, there is a high chance that this can be the main cause for the ink to leak on the paper. To properly clean the contacts, open the printing machine and remove the ink cartridges and place them on a clean piece of paper.
One of two issues can cause this. The toner cartridge may not be fully seated into the photoconductor unit. This can cause the seal between the two to break, allowing toner to leak out. The other possibility is that the toner cartridge or the photoconductor unit may be damaged.
If ink leaks into a printer`s ink bay – also known as the cradle or carriage – it can cause smears or blotches of ink on your documents. In addition to creating a mess, it can also make you business appear sloppy or unprofessional.
Not a problem. Even a properly aligned cartridge can leak if the contacts between it and the machine are dirty or clogged. Similar to before, open up the machine, remove the offending cartridge and wipe it down with an alcohol-based wipe – not water as this can cause damage.
Your faucet may contain a ceramic, brass, or rubber seat that is meant to form a seal at the bottom of the cartridge opening. The seat can become damaged with use so that it no longer fits correctly into the hole in the cartridge, which allows water to leak. The O-ring may also become cracked and cause a leak.
Bad Faucet Cartridge: In single handle faucet designs, there is a faucet cartridge inside that helps regulate the flow of hot and cold water. The cartridge can develop leaks as it starts to wear out.
Yes, it is completely normal. The very experienced tattoo artists will always ensure that as much ink is packed to ensure most of it remains. Even if excess ink is packed in your skin, and some comes out with the bleeding, it is perfectly normal and there is no need for you to worry.
Check the Paper Setting of Your Printer

Photo Paper setting or Matte-Coated Paper setting causes more ink to be printed. If the printing paper loaded in the inkjet printer doesn`t match the paper setting, it can cause ink bleeding, smudging, and smearing.

Bleed Marks

Bleeds are an important part of the printing process because even the smallest amount of misregistration or knife draw could leave finished work with white edges.

And spilling it on your skin is harmless, as long as you wash it off shortly after the spill (if you don`t, you may experience slight skin irritation). Exposure to printer ink, in any capacity, will not result in life-threatening conditions. Toner, used for laser printers, is also non-toxic.
Printer ink is not toxic to touch, although it goes without saying that it should not be inhaled. Water, alcohol and ethylene glycol are the core ingredients of all inkjet printer inks, with additives mixed in to create different strengths and consistencies.

HP deskjet 460 Waste ink tank full
ANSWER : I worked fixing printers for 5 years for Verizon and some of the older printers were notorious for the waste receptacle filling and overflowing with ink. My solution was good old warm water. Remove the waste container and scoop out as much as you can with a small screwdriver, wiping the discard on a paper towel, then just run warm water from the faucet into the container till all the residue is removed. This is just water soluble ink folks, if you want to test it, scoop out a glob and dissolve it in warm water, its easy as pie. I never once bought a new ink discard reservoir. I just cleaned out my mobile 460 printer reservoir by the same method. There are no electrical connections its just all plastic.
