Make sure paper is loaded in the main tray, and then turn on the printer. Download HP Print and Scan Doctor, and then follow the prompts to install and open the tool.
Check the print job settings: From the application you are printing from, click File > Print, and then click Options, Printer Setup, or Preferences, or open the Paper Type/Quality or Media & Quality menu. Make sure the color, paper type, paper size, and quality settings are correct for your print job.
A standard resolution of 300 dpi is acceptable for most text-based documents, while 600 dpi or higher is better for detailed photo scans. Laser printers, unlike inkjet printers, do not use ink cartridges. Instead laser printers use toner cartridges, so be sure to purchase accordingly depending on your printer. Toner is a fine dye power that is melted onto the paper.
Laser printers don`t waste toner in the same way, and because they don`t gunk up like inkjets, they may last longer before needing to be replaced.
If your printer`s status displays “Printer in error state,” there may be a problem with the printer itself. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your PC by Wi-Fi or cable. Check it for low paper or ink, and be sure the cover isn`t open and the paper isn`t jammed.
Run Diagnose & Fix
Open the HP Smart app, and then open Diagnose & Fix. Windows: Click the Diagnose & Fix icon in the bottom left corner. macOS: Click your printer, click Printers in the top menu bar, and then click Diagnose & Fix.
An Er/02 error message indicates that the toner cartridge door is open or not closed completely. To resolve the error, open the toner cartridge door, and then close it completely.
Quick fix. Error code e02 occurs due to overheating of the printhead or when the paper is not correctly placed into the input tray and therefore the paper feed rollers are unable to pick up the paper from the paper tray.
