Check that the printer does not have sleep mode enabled: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers. Right-click the printer in question, then select Printer Preferences. Look for an option to disable sleep or time-out mode.
Do all HP printers have a sleep mode? No. Some HP printers, particularly older models, do not have this feature. To find out if your printer has a sleep mode function, see your printer`s user guide.

You may find a printer that is idle, even though it has print requests queued to it. A printer may seem idle when it should not be for one of the following reasons: The current print request is being filtered. The printer has a fault. Networking problems may be interrupting the printing process.
Resolution. To wake up a computer or the monitor from sleep, standby, or hibernate, move the mouse or press any key on the keyboard. If this does not work, press the power button to wake up the computer.
⚫ The Power button of you HP`s laptop has a default function of switching on and putting it into sleep mode. The sleep mode puts the laptop in a low-power state without completely switching it off. As a result, you can reboot quickly and get back to work.
To keep your printer lasting longer, we recommend leaving your printer on. If it is off for a long period of time or if you turn it on and off again regularly, the printhead inside the printer will dry out faster. When you leave it on, you may hear the printer start up every once in a while and begin to calibrate.
