Dirty or misaligned print heads

Your printer may be printing fuzzy, blurry, or other faint text because of dirty print heads. All modern printers have a self-cleaning mode, which cleans the print heads, and additional internal equipment used in the printing process.

The print nozzles, print head, and other internal components could be clogged or dirty, causing blurry text. In other words, you should clean the interior of the printer.

Here are the most common causes of a printer printing faded text or images: Low ink or toner levels. Toner sticking to the fuser roller or problems with the transfer roller. Low ink or toner density settings.

If your printouts are blurry or smeared, try these solutions: Make sure your paper is not damp, curled, old, or loaded incorrectly in your product. Use a support sheet with special paper, or load special paper one sheet at a time. Make sure your paper meets the specifications for your product.

If your current font size or dots per inch (DPI) is set to larger than 100%, text and other items on the screen may appear blurry in programs that are not designed for high-DPI display. To fix this problem, set the font size to 100% to see whether the font looks clearer.

This issue occurs when image compression or resolution settings are not optimized. To resolve this issue, do one of the following: Smooth the document image within the Perceptive Content Viewer. Use Adobe Reader image compression options.

If the brain alternates which image to process, it causes the text to appear to move. Alternatively the brain can take the two images and use both of them, which makes the words look blurry or double. Fluent readers look at around 150 points per minute when reading.

In the Display settings window, click the arrow next to Display resolution to open the list of display resolutions. Click the Recommended display resolution, and then close the window. If the image and text quality are corrected after adjusting the resolution, you are done troubleshooting.

If you start with a low-resolution image or other file, the resulting PDF may look blurry or pixelated, especially if printed out. PDF converters can`t make your finished document look any clearer than the original. Use files with resolutions of at least 72 dots per inch for Web display and 200 to 300 dpi for printing.
