HP LaserJet 4V
I have a remanufactured cartridge from a supposedly reputable source for my 4V, and it doesn’t work. There are two broad stripes down the page (direction of travel) about 1/3 and 2/3 across. The page is very light everywhere else. Eventually the cartridge spilled a mound of toner out the middle. I am assuming that these were remanufactured years ago, were sitting around in a warehouse, and things dried out. Does anyone (you?) supply ones that actually work?

How to Identify and Fix Common printer Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced technical support :

How long does HP toner last? HP toner cartridges can last up to two years in their sealed packaging. Even after two years you may still get some use out of the cartridge, so it may be worth trying even after the fact. Your printer will display a “low cartridge” message when a specific cartridge needs to be replaced.
The expiration date can usually be found on the side or back of the cartridge. The most visible effect you can experience from using expired toner is the poor quality of your printouts. Over time, the consistency of the fine toner powder within a cartridge can change, clumping and turning lumpy.
Printer companies price their devices very competitively, in order to entice customers into buying their products. This leads to a nearly microscopic markup, if any, on most printers. And those devices still require investment, time, engineering and resources in order to produce.
4. Can you use generic ink in HP printers? Yes, you can use generic ink in HP printers. Try to disable the HP Cartridge protection as this will help with preventing the printers from being blocked with updates.
After all, expired printer cartridges from HP can be used without any problems even one to two years beyond the expiration date without any restrictions. However, once the printer cartridges are even older, you should overlook using them. This is especially true if your printer has a standalone print head.
Shake it — Each printer cartridge contains toner in powder form. Over time, this powder can clump and become unevenly distributed, leading to streaks, uneven pages, and wasted toner. To extend the life of your toner, remove the toner cartridge, cover it with a paper towel, and shake to redistribute the powder.
With HP toner, you`ll be using high quality cartridges that give you memorable results and make an impact in any business or home office. The ability to print around 1,500 pages means that investing in an HP 83A toner cartridge will more than pay off through high quality prints that last.
Benefits of using toner and laser printers

Furthermore, toner does not dry up in the same way that printer inks do if you don`t print so often, saving time and money.

HP LaserJet toner cartridges are manufactured in the following 5 countries: Japan, US, France, China and Vietnam.
While all OEM toners for your printer are virtually identical due to the high standard of quality control, generic toner quality varies widely, depending on the remanufacturing process and brand.
The standard cartridge is your run-of-the-mill cost savings cartridge. It typically gives you about 10,000–12,000 pages.
Ink cartridges can dry out over time. If they are sitting in your machine for an extended period, they will eventually dry up and become unusable. The simplest way to combat this problem is by printing more frequently or running regular cleans and ink tests to ensure the nozzles remain clean.
82 inks and No. 11 printheads by the end of 2022.
Does Toner Expire? One of the good things about using toner is that while it can degrade over time, generally it does not expire (and there is usually no toner expiration date). Toner cartridges certainly last much longer than ink. Its powder structure means it doesn`t dry out like ink cartridges.
Printer damage – Refilling cartridges without taking professional help can increase the risk of causing permanent damage to your printer. It could either leak or clog your print head. And while refilling cartridges, if you break your printer by any chance, it could also void your printer warranty.
Most shelf-stable foods are safe indefinitely. In fact, canned goods will last for years, as long as the can itself is in good condition (no rust, dents, or swelling). Packaged foods (cereal, pasta, cookies) will be safe past the `best by` date, although they may eventually become stale or develop an off flavor.
To Determine Manufacture Date Based on Serial Number: The 1st three numbers of your serial number will always provide your manufacture date. The 1st number is the YEAR of manufacture; the 2nd & 3rd numbers indicate the MONTH of manufacture.
Expired products may not only lack potency, but could also cause an adverse skin reaction. If you`re unsure how old something is, the general rule is to toss anything that has significantly changed in color or odor, or separated, clumped, thickened or thinned, says cosmetic chemist Mort Westman.
Ink cartridges can dry out if they are sitting idle in your printer for an extended period of time. The best way to prevent an ink cartridge from drying out is by running a small print job every week, this keeps your cartridge primed.
Why is it important to clean a laser printer? Printing is vital to all businesses so ensuring your laser printer is thoroughly cleaned is crucial as it allows your machine to continue working efficiently. Cleaning a laser printer is easy with the correct equipment, however they are prone to dust and debris.
As with most things we purchase, those toner cartridges you keep on hand for your printer have an expiration date. Using toner after its expiration date has passed can have ill effects on your print jobs and the devices they`re used in.
