Just encountered same problem (with light magenta) and discovered it was my own fault! There’s an adhesive-backed piece of aluminum foil that serves as one wall of the ink channels in the white plastic transition junction where it connects to the printhead. In trying to clean the printhead, I apparently nicked that foil, but didn’t notice when I reassembled, so I created a real mess in the printer. I cleaned everything up and then carefully (to cover the damage but not plug the ink channel) smeared a light coating of Goop household cement over the nicked hole, let it cure for about 6 hours, put everything together, and the leaking stopped.

Clean the contacts

If the contacts between the cartridge and the printer are dirty or clogged, there is a high chance that this can be the main cause for the ink to leak on the paper. To properly clean the contacts, open the printing machine and remove the ink cartridges and place them on a clean piece of paper.

One of two issues can cause this. The toner cartridge may not be fully seated into the photoconductor unit. This can cause the seal between the two to break, allowing toner to leak out. The other possibility is that the toner cartridge or the photoconductor unit may be damaged.

Dots are typically caused by foreign material inside the machine (for example paper dust, glue from labels or envelopes, paper clips, staples) sticking to or damaging the surface of the drum. Toner builds up on or sticks to these areas on the drum and creates black dots on the printed pages.

This is most often caused by using paper that is damp, is of poor quality, or not designed for this machine (ie: Inkjet paper) It can also be caused by the machine not being placed on a solid, level surface, poor calibration, or uneven distribution from a low toner cartridge.

Check the Paper Setting of Your Printer

Photo Paper setting or Matte-Coated Paper setting causes more ink to be printed. If the printing paper loaded in the inkjet printer doesn`t match the paper setting, it can cause ink bleeding, smudging, and smearing.

Use thicker paper: If you aren`t using a Marker paper, a thicker/heavier paper will be more likely to stand up to more layers of marker without bleeding. Bristol, Heavyweight Drawing, and Mixed Media are substantial enough for markers.

What causes the spots? The usual cause is a dust particle that falls on or is stuck to the paper. Then as the paper runs through the printer, the ink gets laid on top of the particle instead of the paper surface. Eventually the particle falls off leaving a white spot where it blocked the ink.

This happens when the rollers or the transfer belt inside the printer get dirty or covered in excess dirt, ink or toner powder, and as the paper is moved through the printer the `tracks` are being left on the page. This is normally the case when the tracks on the page are located at either end.

Blotchy, Streaked or Faded Printouts

Then check your toner. Cause: If you seldom print documents, your toner might have settled and would need to be “awakened.” Cure: Remove your toner and gently rock it from side to side — DON`T shake the toner. Make sure you don`t touch the toner roll as it may leave fingerprints.

Align the print head. Make sure you are using genuine Epson ink cartridges. If you use non-Epson ink cartridges, printouts may be faint, or the color of the printed image may be uneven because the remaining ink level is not correctly detected. Make sure your ink cartridges have not expired.

ANSWER : I had the same problem. After reading the comments, I tried Liquid Wrench spray. 1st try got about sixty percent improvement. Tried again this time I let it set for about 10 min then did a head cleaning. Completely solved the problem. I am a little concerned about its use on plastic. So far so good.
