How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced technical support :

The primary culprit in the problem of clogged printhead nozzles, whether in Epson printers or otherwise, is air. Air blockages are fairly common, particularly because nozzles are becoming smaller, with every little bit of technological advancement. The next big culprit is, of course, dried ink.
Head cleaning, ink charging, or ink drying is in progress

Check to see if the Pause light is flashing. If so, the printer is in the process of head cleaning, ink charging, or ink drying. During head cleaning and ink charging, WAIT is displayed on the LCD panel.

The Epson Stylus® Photo 1280 inkjet printer is the ideal large-format choice. It creates beautiful 8″ x 10″ prints in as fast as 1 minute 50 seconds¹ and inspiring 13″ x 44″ panoramas faster than ever.
The nozzle will have a poor spray pattern, increased pressure, and reduced flow. Accidental Mechanical Damage. This is the most widespread problem causing poor spray nozzle performance leading to nozzle replacement. It leads to poor spray patterns, increased pressure, and reduced flow. Nozzle Orifice Clogging.
If your PC or the LCD screen on your printer is telling you that your ink cartridges are full but no ink is passing through to the paper, then it`s most likely that you are dealing with a clogged printhead. Blurry documents and images that appear faded are also signs that it`s time to remove the excess ink.
This means the printer is starved of the data it needs to keep printing. Some printers will pause and keep trying, for a little while, but many will just give up at this point and spit out your half printed page. So – the moral of the story is really to always use a wired connection if at all possible.
Check Paper Tray and Printer Connection

Verify your printer`s ink levels, clean the printhead, fill the paper tray, and avoid using substandard paper. Low-quality paper can cause “Ghost Paper Jams” and other issues that stop your printer from printing documents.

The amount of ink in a cartridge varies from 8 ml to 127 ml depending on your inkjet printer.
Make sure you selected the correct paper size and layout settings in your printing program and printer software. Make sure you selected the correct paper size on the control panel. Make sure your paper is positioned correctly for feeding into the printer. Slide the edge guides against the edges of the paper.
The product prints a nozzle check pattern. Check the printed pattern to see if there are gaps in the lines. If there are no gaps, the print head is clean and you can continue printing. If there are gaps or the pattern is faint, clean the print head.
If the hot water soak did not unclog the print head, place the cartridge printer head in isopropyl alcohol and allow it to soak overnight. Use a damp paper towel to wipe off the print head area and dry carefully.
Clean the printhead nozzles.

Dampen a microfiber cloth with distilled water. Be sure to use distilled water to prevent any residue from being left behind. Avoid using a paper towel that could leave lint on your printhead. Carefully clean your printhead with the wet cloth to remove dried ink.

Nozzle flow pressure is the discharge pressure of a nozzle at a given flow rate. It is an indication of the velocity flow of your fire stream in feet per second. You can use the hydraulic formula for velocity flow for any smooth bore, fixed, selectable, or automatic firefighting nozzle.
Calibration is the process of adjusting spray equipment to uniformly apply the desired rate of chemical. Changes in nozzle pressure also can be used to increase or decrease sprayer output, but not as significantly as changes in orifice size. Pressure must be increased four times to double nozzle flow rate.
The nozzle size of a 3D printer can have a significant impact on the quality of the final print. In general, a smaller nozzle size will result in higher-resolution prints with smoother finishes, while a larger nozzle size will produce prints more quickly but with lower resolution and more visible layer lines.
Your printer can become misaligned if there is any paper stuck in the machine, print cartridges are clogged or dirty, improper installation of cartridges and using low quality cartridges. Additionally, a printer can become misaligned after the machine completes a large print job.

Conclusion: A print head can become clogged by cold or melted material. In any case, temperature is usually the cause: a too high nozzle or room temperature causes problems. So put your printer in a clean, conditioned room and don`t set the nozzle temperature too high.

Epson Stylus C64 in problems, Help!!!!
ANSWER : a lucky tip – if all else fails and you don’t have a PC instead of a Mac, try what I did on my C63. When the head finished moving and both red lights flashed with a “general error’ message, turn off the printer power supply and physically slide the head from its rest position to the far left of the printer. This seems to re-set the “foreign body” trigger. Turn the power back on, the head slowly moves back to the rest position and hey presto the lights have stopped flashing and the printer works! Sounds clumsy but you have nothing to lose trying it, the cost of repair exceeds the value of a 10 year old printer.
