Solution. There are several reasons for Error 5100 to appear, including a paper jam, an improperly seated ink tank, and more. Encoder (Timing) Strip on the printer needs cleaning. Manual cleaning can be done on some models.
Make sure the ink cartridges are properly installed. Push up the ink cartridge lock lever until it clicks. Make sure that the ink cartridge holder motion is not impeded by stabilizer, jammed paper, etc. Remove any impediment.
The error 5100 implies a hardware problem. Most of the time, there is a carriage fault, which can include internal contamination, a fault in the carriage drive path, or a band printhead.
The printer may be damaged or not function properly. Confirm that the print head lock lever is locked securely. Push both tabs of the print head lock lever until each clicks into place. Make sure the ink tanks are properly installed.
An ink tank(s) is not seated properly.
Check the following: Make sure print head (cartridge) holder motion is not impeded by stabilizer, jammed paper, etc. Remove any impediment. Make sure the print heads (cartridges) are properly installed.
Confirm that there are no materials (e.g. jammed paper) that is preventing the print head holder from moving. If any, remove the materials. Confirm that The print head lock lever is locked securely. Push the right and left tabs of the print head lock lever until each clicks into place.
Paper is jammed or there is an object inside the printer.
Check the following: Make sure print head holder motion is not impeded by tapes for securing the print head holderduring transportation, jammed paper, etc. Remove any impediment. Make sure the ink tanks are properly installed.
The password is the printer serial number. The printer serial number is printed on the sticker attached on the printer. It consists of 9 alphanumeric characters (four alphabets followed by five numbers).
Error 5100 is a general error from the Microsoft . NET installer that can have a number of meanings: . NET has already been installed and target computer needs to be rebooted.

Canon Pixma iP3000 "Open door" Error code.
ANSWER : Look for a protruding plastic on the top that goes into an indentation. Mine was in the front left side. Put a piece of cardboard into the indentation.and close the door. The top plastic piece is not pushing the door close sensor down and because its too short and the cardboard allows the sensor to be reached and pushed.

Canon Pixma MX882 won't print black text
ANSWER : Yeah I’m having the same problem with my Canon MX882. I’ve refilled the pigment tank, cleaned the print head and I still get no pigment black at all. I think it has something to do with the purge unit, but I don’t see any instructions on how to clean it. If I can figure it out, I’ll let you know.
