Access the Print or Page Setup dialog box. Click the Utility icon button, then click the Auto Nozzle Check and Cleaning button. Follow the on-screen instructions. The power light flashes while the printer performs the cleaning cycle.
In the majority of cases, printers` self-cleaning mechanisms clean blocked printer heads by flushing the nozzles with air. The air works to dislodge dry ink inside the cartridge channels and also push it out. The intensity of the self-cleaning process of printers is usually not very strong.
Open the Applications folder, open the EPSON Printer Utility3, select your Epson printer, and click OK. Then select Head Cleaning. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions to start the cleaning cycle, which lasts around 1 minute.
The printer will start cleaning the print head and the processing light will begin flashing. Print head cleaning takes about thirty seconds to complete.
Solutions. First, clean the nozzle using a damp cloth or an alcohol wipe while the nozzle is hot. This may cause some steam but will indeed remove any material clinging to the nozzle. If this doesn`t work, you can also use a wire brush, small blade, or needle to remove any remaining debris from the nozzle.
A common method for cleaning the nozzle is to use a solvent like acetone. Using acetone is most effective with ABS filament. PLA, for its part, can be dissolved using ethyl acetate. [2] With this method, simply submerge the nozzle in the acetone or solvent for a few hours.
Soak the Printhead
Fill a bowl with warm water (or a mixture of water and vinegar to clean the printhead) and place the printhead directly in it. Let it sit for five minutes or so. Pull the printhead out of the water and use a lint-free cloth or paper towel to remove the dried ink.
Heat up the nozzle to 250°C and push the filament through the nozzle until you don`t see any of the previous filament coming out of the hotend. Cool down your extruder to room temperature to solidify the filament in the nozzle. Set the hotend to 115°C. At 90°C, pull on the filament until it yanks out of the nozzle.
Dried Ink Buildup on the Printhead
If the print cleaning cycle doesn`t work, dried ink may be the culprit. Take the printhead out and wipe the nozzles clean to remove any buildup. Depending on the model of your printer, this may be difficult—some printheads are harder to remove than others.
If you`re still experiencing quality issues or printhead errors, then there may be other problems at play. Before taking any other actions, it`s recommended that you clean the printhead and ink cartridges four or five more times.
Press and hold the power button and the help button at the same time until the Power Cleaning screen appears on the LCD screen. Follow the on-screen instructions to run the Power Cleaning. When the Power Cleaning is finished, run a nozzle check.
