When I send a print job the paper feeds, but it does not stop when it reaches the print head, and the printer does not begin sweeping the heads back and forth. Instead the paper continues to feed until it is fully ejected. The power light blinks and the paper light is on solid. This light combination is not in the documentation (at least that I can see.)

Experienced technical support provide their insights in answering this question :
I was able to get it to print the internal test page by holding down the sheet paper feed button while turning the machine on — then continuing to hold the sheet paper feed button. It took several attempts, feeding a page straight through, but eventually it caught the sheet and printed. So it may be a timing issue as others have mentioned. It could still mean that the feed rollers are worn out. The back side of the large D-shaped feed roller has visible abrasion on it. The abrasion is difficult to see as the roller does not stay with the flat side exposed.

How to Identify and Fix Common printer Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced technical support :

Make sure your paper meets the specifications for your product. If paper dust builds up on the rollers, they may lose traction and become unable to feed paper properly. Clean the paper guide. If roll paper does not feed, cut the end straight across and uncurl it by rolling it backward, if necessary.
There are a few things that could be the cause of this problem, including: Empty ink or toner cartridges that need replacing. Ink or toner cartridges that have become dislodged from their proper place. The wrong paper size loaded in the input tray.
Select > Paper Setting > paper source > Print Adjustments > Paper Feed Adjust. Select one of the following: Auto: automatically adjusts the paper feed setting (takes 9 to 35 minutes to complete); Epson recommends running this option first.
The printer will not operate if a black ink cartridge is expended or any cartridge is removed. If a color cartridge is expended, you may be able to continue printing temporarily with black ink. It`s best to always have extra cartridges on hand.
If your printer keeps jamming, you should know that the most common cause of a jam is misalignment of the paper. Paper needs to load in smoothly, completely flush with the tray. Overfilling the tray is a great way to ensure you will be spending some personal time getting to know the inside of a printer.
The printer`s laser projects your print onto a drum. A drum then uses static electricity to attract the dry toner to the drum`s cylinder. The drum then rolls the toner onto the paper to create your print. The toner powder is melted and pressed onto the paper with heat from the fuser as it goes through a set of rollers.
Document specifications. The Automatic Document Feeder (B81321 ) allows you to automatically load multi-page documents into your scanner. This is useful for OCR (optical character recognition) scanning, or for creating an image database or PDF files.
Push down the release lever to slightly raise the feeder mechanism and release the paper. Then slowly pull the jammed paper out of the feeder mechanism. (Be careful not to pull too hard; the paper may tear, making it more difficult to remove.) If paper is still jammed inside the mechanism, open the cover to remove it.
The ADF loads your first document page, then Epson Scan prescans it and displays it in the Preview window. The ADF then ejects your first page. Place your first page on top of the rest of the pages, then load the entire document into the ADF.
You can also tell which cartridge is empty by checking the speed at which the error light flashes when the print head moves to the ink cartridge replacement position. See the table below. Replace the black ink cartridge if the error light flashes at the same speed as the power light.
The Cause of Clogs

Printheads clog because nozzles get blocked by either air or ink. Clogs usually happen when: You keep printing with depleted ink cartridges. Using empty ink cartridges can result in air bubbles that can clog your cartridge and/or printhead.

Make sure the USB cable is connected securely at both ends and meets the requirements. Run a printer check. If the test page prints, make sure your software is installed correctly. Make sure the printer cover is closed.
