How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

Streaks and unwanted lines could mean that the printer heads are out of alignment. There`s an alignment tool in the printer`s control panel. If that`s not the issue then the printer is dirty. Printer ink stripes may appear along the edges of the paper, which means there`s ink on the rollers and other parts.
“DRUM LIFE” or “REPLACE DRUM” is a rough indicator that the image drum cartridge has reached the end of its life. If there are no problems with print quality even if this message appears, continue to use until there is no toner left. When out of toner, replace the image drum cartridge and toner cartridge together.
White lines will typically start appearing on your print outs due to a clogged up printer head. Your first port of call when solving this problem is to run the cleaning program on your printer, which should be accessible through its settings menu.
You`ll know the drum is dirty if you notice that the print quality has become blurry and features blank spots or oddly-colored spots despite having full toner cartridges. Horizontal lines across the printout when the paper passes over a dirty area are another sign that it`s time for some maintenance.
A printer printing lines on the page are normally caused by a blocked, dirty, or damaged print head. Blocked ink cartridge nozzles, or not removing protective seals correctly when you installed a new ink cartridge can also cause missing lines of print.
A printing defect characterized by elongated blotches of ink in non-image areas, commonly caused by mechanical problems with the press, such as damaged rollers (in lithography), or by improper wiping of a gravure cylinder by the doctor blade (due to dried ink fragments attached to it, or other such problems).
Over time, the cycle of repeated charging and discharging, combined with the electrical charges that printers use, can break down the chemicals in an imaging drum. As the chemicals break down, the drum`s power to attract toner becomes weaker, while the edges between charged and uncharged areas become more blurred.
The yield of a drum unit is approx. 15,000 pages (1 page/job). There are many factors that determine the actual drum life, such as the temperature, humidity, type of paper, type of toner used and so on. Under ideal conditions, the average drum life is estimated at approximately 15,000 pages.
If you notice white or dark lines in your prints (also called banding), try these solutions before you reprint: Run a nozzle check to see if any of the print head nozzles are clogged. Then clean the print head, if necessary. Make sure the paper type setting matches the type of paper you loaded.
Vertical lines in prints are an early warning sign of a low ink cartridge, which may show up before the printer`s low ink alerts start. You can fix the problem by replacing the low cartridge. Gently shaking the drained cartridge a bit may help to get another few prints out of it without vertical lines.
