Xerox Phaser 7800DN
hi guys i have a phaser 7800 used mainly to print educational posters and i have what looks like very light yellow lines in almost all my print jobs especially where darker colours are involved. I bought this used last week with only 4k impressions and no toner. I am now using all genuine xerox toner and genuine xerox paper too. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. The machine is only 6 Months old and still under warranty but i have emailed xerox several times with no joy.

How to Identify and Fix Common printer Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced technical support :

Xerox developed the machine identification code “to assuage fears that their color copiers could be used to counterfeit bills” and received U.S. Patent No 5515451 describing the use of the yellow dots to identify the source of a copied or printed document.
There are four primary causes for horizontal banding on prints from inkjet printers, (1) nozzle clogs, (2) mis-aligned print heads, (3) low quality print settings (4) incorrect paper thickness settings. Below we will describe each of these causes for horizontal banding as well as ways to try and fix them.
Black, cyan, magenta, or yellow vertical lines or streaks can be caused by a dirty corona wire, a toner cartridge, or the drum unit. To identify if a corona wire, toner cartridge, or the drum unit could be causing the issue, follow the steps below. 1.
It is most likely that your image is yellow where you were expecting it to be red and you may also notice that blue parts of the image appear turquoise instead. Both of these effects are caused by a lack of magenta ink/toner on your prints. Magenta is added to both cyan and yellow to create these common colours.
The band-shaped “stripes” are called “horizontal bands” or “banding.” Horizontal bands are caused by the subtle changes in the movement distance that occur when feeding the media depending on the media`s thickness. We recommend making corrections to match the media you are using.
Streaks and unwanted lines could mean that the printer heads are out of alignment. There`s an alignment tool in the printer`s control panel. If that`s not the issue then the printer is dirty. Printer ink stripes may appear along the edges of the paper, which means there`s ink on the rollers and other parts.
A very small amount of dust or a speck of grime can easily cause lines, streaks, or smudges on your copies or document scans. If you have an MFP (most likely known as, “the copier” in your office), print a blank page first. If there`s still a smudge, you may have an issue with the print assembly on the copier.
When your printer leaves black lines, the lines indicate that there are excess toner powders on the rollers or transfer belt within the printer. As the paper is moved along by the rollers and transfer belt, any excess powder left on them can result in lines being left on the paper.
Foxing is the result of both mold and metal contaminants in paper. Foxing appears as brown, yellow, or red stains on the paper, often in spidery spots or blotches.
This issue is usually caused by the PostScript language not being installed on the device. NOTE: There are two ways to confirm if Postscript is enable on the Printer. Locate installed languages on the configuration report.
Smears and smudges on the paper can be caused by dirt, dust, or toner accumulated on the rollers or transfer belt as it passes through the paper. Cleaning your printer, particularly the rollers, is one of the options for removing black markings from paper.

lexmark C544 prints yellow streaks
ANSWER : Are the streaks repeating defects or does it run top-down on the right or left side of the paper ?If you have a vertical yellow shade on the paper, it’s probaly the yellow developer unit which causes the problem. You then can either replace the developer only or (depending on the total number of pages printed, check the statistics !) the complete imaging kit which consists of all four developers and the imaging basket with the Photoconductors. If you see a repeating defect, you should at first print out the print defects page (menue\reports\print defects). Compare the yellow streaks with the printed scales. Above the scales it tells you which component should be changed.
