Check the printer connection status: Make sure the wireless signal is on, and the printer is connected to the same network as your computer or mobile device. If your printer has a light next to a Wireless icon or button , make sure the light is on. If it is off or blinks, the printer is disconnected from the network.
If a Firewall on your computer is active, it may be rejecting the necessary network connection needed for the network scanning software to operate properly. Disable the Firewall on your computer and try the network scanning again. Temporarily change your firewall/security settings to allow network connection.
When a computer does not recognize an otherwise functioning scanner that is connected to it via its USB, serial or parallel port, the problem is usually caused by outdated, corrupted or incompatible device drivers. This is usually easily remedied by obtaining and installing new drivers.
The Scanner Is Not Recognized by Your System
Make sure your scanner`s AC adapter is securely connected to the scanner and a working electrical outlet. Make sure the interface cable is securely connected to the scanner and your computer, and that the cable is not damaged or crimped.
Select the Start button, then select Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & scanners . Make sure your printer is turned on and connected. Then select the Add device (or Refresh) button.
Restart the printer and try again. Unplug the printer from an outlet. You can plug it back in again to see if it works this time. Check if the printer is properly set up or connected to your computer`s system.
Download the driver from the HP website to complete the setup with your Windows computer. Turn on the scanner. If your scanner is connected to the computer with a USB cable, disconnect the cable from the scanner. The software installation prompts you to connect the cable if needed.
Open the HP Print and Scan Troubleshooter Make sure the printer is on and connected to your laptop. Select HP Print and Scan Doctor on the HP Customer Support page to download the troubleshooter. Click HPPSdr.exe to open the software`s window. Click Start and select the printer that doesn`t scan.
Turn the printer on and open the scanner – lift the scanner lid, load the document you wish to scan into the tray if your printer has an all-in-one paper feeder. Insert the document – place the document face-down in the scanner and use the arrow marking on the glass to help align your document in the correct place.
Make sure that the cables are working properly, and plugged correctly and firmly at both ends. If possible, you can try another cable to plug in your scanner to see if it`s the cables faulty. If it`s a wireless printer or scanner, check the wireless connection properly.
A scanner is considered an input device rather than an output device since the flow of data is always in the direction of the computer. This is taking place as a result of the data being entered into the computer.
Click the Scan tile on the HP Smart app home screen. Select an option from the top menu bar. Scanner: Place the original on the printer scanner glass or into the automatic document feeder (ADF). Select scan job type, size, color, and resolution settings, and then click Scan in the lower right corner.
