Feeder does not work, it starts to pick up sometimes and not at other times.

How to Identify and Fix Common printer Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced technical support :

If roll paper does not feed, cut the end straight across and uncurl it by rolling it backward, if necessary. Then reload the paper. If thick media does not feed, make sure you are loading it straight into the product, not at an angle. If paper jams when you print on both sides of the paper, try loading fewer sheets.
If the paper feed rollers are dirty or paper powder is attached to it, paper may not be fed properly. In this case, clean the paper feed rollers. Cleaning will wear out the paper feed rollers, so perform this only when necessary. Make sure that the power is turned on and remove any paper from the rear tray.
Printer rollers are the small circular rubber pieces that help feed printer paper through your printer. Over time, they can accumulate dust from the paper and ink residue from printing double-sided pages. To clean your printer rollers, you`ll need to first locate them in your printer.
Signs of a bad transfer roller include streaking, squealing, jamming and odors emanating from the printer. Troubleshoot your transfer rollers to restore your prints to their normal high quality.
Locate your printer`s internal pickup roller. The roller is gray or black, and it is made of rubber. Lift the roller upward, towards the front of your printer. Pull the roller gently out of the printer and lay it on a clean surface, such as a desk or workbench.
Dust, paper fiber, and other debris might accumulate on the pick rollers and cause paper feed issues. To help prevent paper feed issues, clean the rollers inside the printer and in the duplexer (if equipped). If the other steps in this document fail to resolve the issue, then reset the printer.
Select > Paper Setting > paper source > Print Adjustments > Paper Feed Adjust.
The feed roller in combination with the feed plate pushes the sliver against the opening roller. The opening roller rotates much faster than the feed roller. This means the fibres in the sliver are hooked by the saw tooth or pins and separated under a high draft ratio into individual fibres by the opening roller.
Printer rollers are the tiny rubber wheels inside your printer that move sheets of paper through the printer. The roller that lifts the paper from the paper tray is called the paper uptake roller. The output rollers deliver the final printout.
This is often caused by the fact the pick-up roller is worn out. The layer of rubber around this plastic part overtime gets too smooth, preventing paper from feeding properly into the printer. This fix is not really hard, will take no more than half an hour and costs around 10,- (Euro or Dollar).

Upper Feeder Jam
ANSWER : The only thing that can cause it is some sort of obstruction in the paper path. That would be the small section before the paper comes up from the bottom tray and intersects with the paper feeding from tray 1. The best way to clear the unseen piece is to shove a stiff piece of paper or plastic down the path. A piece of file folder is usually enough to dislodge whatever.

Optional 250 Sheet Feeder Tray (Q5931A – Tray 3) Constantly "Jams"
ANSWER : You don’t say if the paper moves at all. That’s key in determining the cause. If it’s not moving, then try swapping the rollers with tray 2. If it is moving out of the tray, then that would indicate there is some obstruction it is hitting on its way out of the tray. Hard to troubleshoot remotely when one doesn’t have specific details since we can’t see what is occurring.
