On the left side of the printer, press down on the latch at the top of the access door and pull the door open. Pull the duplexer out of the product.
Duplex printing means that your printer supports printing on both sides of the paper. Printers that are only capable of printing out documents single-sided are sometimes called simplex printers.
Duplex printing means that you can print on both sides of the paper with your printer either automatically or manually by turning the paper over after the first side has printed.
Manual duplex printing can achieve the same result as automatic duplex printing — the only difference is that you will have to turn the page over yourself to print the other side. On the other hand, in auto duplex printing, the printer does the flipping for you. This saves you time, money, effort, and paper!
Printing on both sides of paper is called duplex printing. Most printers offer the option of automatically printing on both sides of a sheet of paper (automatic duplex printing). Other printers provide instructions so that you can manually reinsert pages to print the second side (manual duplex printing).

Go to 123.hp.com to download and install the software. Open the HP Smart app, and then touch Add a New printer, or touch the Add icon to have the app search for your printer. Follow the prompts in the HP Smart app to connect the printer to your device. During setup, you may choose to sign up for HP+ or Instant Ink.
The Duplex Unit is located at the rear of the printer. Pull the Duplex Unit out of the printer. Remove any jammed paper from the Duplex Unit.
In most cases, your HP printer is not printing duplex automatically becaues it is not either set as default printer, or its driver are outdated.

ANSWER : If you are using letter sized paper, then this is a horizontal band since the paper feeds in landscape mode. Either way it is a really odd problem. There is no way it could be either the fuser or the toner as both of those would consistently do the problem, not intermittently. Also, does the band go all the way across the page or does it have borders on either end.

Cleaning HP 4000 duplexer
ANSWER : I know this is a very old post, but I haven’t been able to find any information regarding how to disassemble this duplexer. The 6 screw’s easy, but how do you “prise” off the left cover? If I do it wrong, I know I will break one or more molded hooks on the cover. Can someone please help?

Optra S 1855 check duplex 230 paper jam
ANSWER : Same Problem here with an Lexmark Optra T614. Every time I want to print duplex, the sheet stops shortly before running into the toner cartridge and the error “230 Paper Jam Check Duplex” is shown.

P2055dn Duplex Jam – Jam in Output Bin
ANSWER : I have same problem on duplex of 2nd page. Paper stops just behind Tray 1 pickup roller. Noted there is a small black 1/2″ lever tab behind the lower rear jam door. Noting that when printer jams trying to finish 2nd side, the lever is down ??? No answer, I know, just observation & looking for mention of this by someone. Going to try and find a black or white sensor which may be out of position.
