The following are the top reasons why paper jams occur:
incorrect paper settings in the tray and/or the print driver. paper loaded incorrectly and/or paper edge guides not adjusted properly in the tray. humidity and/or paper condition and storage. Use a new ream of paper.
If your paper jams are happening randomly and you can`t identify the cause, it could be that your printer rollers are dirty. Over time, dust and debris can build up on the rollers and cause the rollers to grab onto paper unevenly, which can lead to paper jams.
Sometimes a paper jam error persists even though there is no jammed paper (false paper jam). Reset the printer, which might clear a false paper jam error, and then try to print again. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer. Unplug the power cord from the power source.
The following are the top reasons why paper jams occur: unsupported paper/media is used. incorrect paper settings in the tray and/or the print driver.
It could be that the paper you are trying to print on is damp. The paper could be of low quality or not the type designed to be used with your specific printer. A printer jam can also occur when you load the paper incorrectly, or when there is dust and static present on the paper.
Common causes of paper jams include: Damaged rollers. Inserting paper that is incompatible with the printer. Loading the paper incorrectly.
Do a hard reset on your printer. To do this you just need to turn off your printer, unplug for a few minutes and then plug the printer again. If that still doesn`t work, try turning the printer and your computer off, and then start it back up again. Try uninstalling and then reinstalling your printer driver.
Document Jam means the document in the automatic document feeder (ADF) was loaded or fed improperly or was too long. The error message may be followed by Clear the scanner jam.
If your printer won`t print, a print job has stopped unexpectedly, or you received a “carriage jam” error, your printer carriage is likely jammed. These jams occur when the carriage holding the ink cartridges stalls in the printer. Carriage jams sometimes occur after a paper jam.
Some of the most common printer problems that most of us have experienced include paper jamming, slow printing, uneven printing, and wrong colour output. If you use your printer frequently, we know how annoying it can be to have persisting problems with the printer.
Paper curl is caused by an excess amount of moisture in the paper. The first step to ensure less paper curl is to store your paper in a cool, dry area. By doing so, you will reduce the amount of moisture and humidity the paper is exposed to. The next step is to always fan the paper before placing in the machine.
A piece of paper stuck in the paper tray or inside the printer can create a paper jam. Paper jams can occur for a variety of reasons, such as overloading the paper tray, loading different thicknesses of paper in the tray, or using paper that isn`t appropriate for your particular printer.

Use a soft, lint-free cloth, lightly dampened with water. Wipe clean the entire area of the control panel, including the display. Wipe clean the automatic document feeder, output tray, paper tray, and other outside areas of your printer. Remove any residue with a clean cloth or paper towel.

paper jams often
ANSWER : Your pickup roller is probably worn. To test make the manual feeder letter paper and the cassette legal and then see if it prints ok without jamming from the manual fold down tray. If it works ok, that would confirm the pickup roller is bad.
