Noises During the Printing Process

The printer may make a buzzing, grinding sound during the print process if the Paper Tray 1 (Multi-Purpose Tray / MPT) pick roller is out of position. Opening and closing the tray or the Front Door will reset the roller position and eliminate the noise.

This noise can be due to any one of the following: A piece of paper, or other obstruction, is stuck somewhere inside the printer. One of the toner cartridges or photo developer units may be installed incorrectly or may be damaged. A door or cover may not be closed completely.
Whilst all printers will make a noise to some extent, the crown for the noisiest type of printer must go to the dot matrix printer.
When the bearings start to fail they tend to make a buzz sound. Then they stop working completely and your printer starts giving material movement issues as the extruders overheat. The easy way to test if it is a fan making the noise is to stop the fan turning briefly.
Dot matrix printers are noisy and slow.
A noise print is part of a technique used in noise reduction. A noise print is commonly used in audio mastering to help reduce the effects of unwanted noise from a piece of audio.
Quiet Mode slows down printing to reduce the noise the printer makes when printing. It does not affect print quality. You can turn Quiet Mode on or off from the printer control panel.
Less noise – thermal printers are quiet, which can be significant in suitable environments. If sound is necessary, a buzzer can be added so that there`s a ding or a buzz every time a ticket prints.
When the bushing wear thin, the pressure roller gear rides too low and you`ll hear gear noise because the gears are grinding against each other and not meshing well. To fix this problem, you should replace the fuser and also the fuser drive gear in the printer.
Over time, the cycle of repeated charging and discharging, combined with the electrical charges that printers use, can break down the chemicals in an imaging drum. As the chemicals break down, the drum`s power to attract toner becomes weaker, while the edges between charged and uncharged areas become more blurred.
