Make sure the paper tray is configured with the correct settings for the type and size of paper you are using. If necessary, refer toModify the Paper Tray Settings. Power the Printer Off, Wait 10 Seconds, Power the Printer On. If the problem persists, contact Support for additional assistance.
The following are the top reasons why paper jams occur:

incorrect paper settings in the tray and/or the print driver. paper loaded incorrectly and/or paper edge guides not adjusted properly in the tray. humidity and/or paper condition and storage. Use a new ream of paper.

Click on the [Setup] or [Paper] tab (depending on the print driver being used). Select the required paper tray as the paper source and then select the required paper type (such as envelope or label). Click on the [Apply] button. Click on the [OK] button twice to send the job to the printer.
The paper-width guide is pressed against the paper stack too tightly. The paper tray is not completely inserted into the product. The paper settings in the print driver do not match the paper loaded in the paper tray. The rubber paper-feed rollers are dusty.
If your printer keeps jamming, you should know that the most common cause of a jam is misalignment of the paper. Paper needs to load in smoothly, completely flush with the tray. Overfilling the tray is a great way to ensure you will be spending some personal time getting to know the inside of a printer.
Paper jams can occur for a variety of reasons, such as overloading the paper tray, loading different thicknesses of paper in the tray, or using paper that isn`t appropriate for your particular printer. False paper jams can also occur.
When the printer`s front panel reads Waiting for manual feed. Insert one envelope , insert one envelope until it stops: Insert one envelope with the short end of the envelope entering the printer first, and with the flap side face-up and aligned with the left side of the manual feed slot.
Re: Disable use manual tray

Go to Start -> Devices and Printers -> Printer Preferences -> Advanced -> Printing Defaults. Please remember to select “Accept as Solution” for posts that helped you solve the issue.

Click Start, point to Settings, and the click Printers. Right-click the appropriate printer, and then click Properties. Click the Paper tab, and then click the paper size you want to use in the Paper Size box.
Using both hands, put one piece of paper in the manual feed slot until the front edge of the paper touches the paper feed roller. Once the machine has grasped the paper, let go. The side to be printed should be faced up. The machine will hold the paper in place until the print data is sent to the machine.
There are different methods of paper feeding. With dot matrix printers, paper is often feed through pins on a wheel that grab and slowly move paper through the printer. With inkjet and other page printers, paper is fed through the printer with rollers that grab and move the paper through the printer.
There are a few things that could be the cause of this problem, including: Empty ink or toner cartridges that need replacing. Ink or toner cartridges that have become dislodged from their proper place. The wrong paper size loaded in the input tray.
The ” A Open Front Cover/StdTray to remove misfeed.” error message appears when a paper misfeed occurs in the paper feed section. Forcefully removing misfed paper may cause paper to tear and leave scraps of paper in the printer. This might cause a misfeed and damage the printer.
If there is media behind the tray, it can block the tray sensor and prevent proper paper size sensing. Remove and clear any paper from behind the tray, and then replace the paper tray. Verify the proper size is registering on the display screen.
The message “[TRAY] Empty” appears when there is no paper in the indicated paper tray and thus the device cannot start printing. Load paper in the indicated paper tray.

Lexmark paper feed problems
ANSWER : On my X204n Lexmark laser printer, it was doing the same thing you described – basically sounded like it was trying to pick up the paper from the tray and then failing after several seconds. When you’d open the paper tray, the paper looked like it had been partially taken up with some black scuff marks on the paper that lined up with the rollers that take up the paper. I inspected the rollers and although they looked a bit smooth and worn, didn’t seem like they should be a problem. However, this particular model has just a rubber tire almost like a car tire – the rubber can come off the hard plastic wheel on the inner portion. So I popped off the two rubber “tires”, turned them inside out and put them back on. When turned inside out, the rubber looked nice and … rubbery and had a lot more grippy feeling to them. The very first printing attempt after that and the paper sucked up perfectly with no problems. I think the problem is solved! So if you have similar “tires” that take up the paper, try flipping them and see if it works for you too.

Tray 1 (upper tray) paper feed problem
ANSWER : There is no way of adjusting the distance of lift. Could be that the pickup roller is worn enough that it will pick up a sheet that is higher, but not one that is lower down. You can look at the end of the roller that first makes contact and see if it is worn smooth.
