How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced technical support :

Streaking is usually caused by a worn out drum unit or spent toner cartridge. Drum units are a consumable and only need to be replaced after the use of 3 or 4 toners. Not all printers use a separate toner and drum unit.
A printer printing lines on the page are normally caused by a blocked, dirty, or damaged print head. Blocked ink cartridge nozzles, or not removing protective seals correctly when you installed a new ink cartridge can also cause missing lines of print.
Streaks and unwanted lines could mean that the printer heads are out of alignment. There`s an alignment tool in the printer`s control panel. If that`s not the issue then the printer is dirty. Printer ink stripes may appear along the edges of the paper, which means there`s ink on the rollers and other parts.
Lines or streaks always appear in printouts when the cartridges begin to run out of ink. Replace print cartridges that are out of ink or low on ink.
Conclusion. If your laser printer is causing horizontal black lines you either have a problem with the optics or the drum. Cleaning the optics and replacing the drum should fix the problem in most cases.
There are four primary causes for horizontal banding on prints from inkjet printers, (1) nozzle clogs, (2) mis-aligned print heads, (3) low quality print settings (4) incorrect paper thickness settings. Below we will describe each of these causes for horizontal banding as well as ways to try and fix them.
If your printer is printing in blue it is out of yellow ink. and if only cyan or light blue is printing red is also over. Get your cartridge replaced or refilled the printer will start printing properly.
A common cause of faded, faint printouts from your inkjet printer is dried ink particles causing a blockage in your printer. The printheads on an ink cartridge can be become blocked if the printer is not used for a period of time, so it is recommended to print a few pages each month to maintain the print quality.
Banding can occur if you use inkjet media that isn`t compatible with your printer and ink. Other possible causes of banding include: (1) using the incorrect media settings in the print software; (2) misaligned printheads; and (3) clogged nozzles in the printhead.
Your printer may be printing pink as the other ink cartridges have run out. Common printer-to-page technology processes colour in four parts; cyan, magenta, yellow and black (CMYK), or toner. The ink cartridges in your inkjet or colour laser printer are split up into four colours.
Vertical streaks on each output page can indicate a depleted toner cartridge.
A vertical line is always a line that runs from top to bottom, or, from bottom to top. Standing lines are also a type of vertical line that runs vertically. We usually draw vertical lines between the bases of a trapezoid or a parallelogram….
Smears and smudges on the paper can be caused by dirt, dust, or toner accumulated on the rollers or transfer belt as it passes through the paper. Cleaning your printer, particularly the rollers, is one of the options for removing black markings from paper.
This could also be an issue with the printer print settings on your PC causing the issue. While feeding the photo paper to the photo, you need to keep “Glossy” or print side facing down. Also, it is important to change the print settings before you print a photo.
Solution On some printed documents that are purple in color on screen when printed out they print out blue or bluish/purple. This happens because of a limitation with LaserJet technology and CMYK conversion.
Delete lines or connectors

Click the line, connector, or shape that you want to delete, and then press Delete. Tip: If you want to delete multiple lines or connectors, select the first line, press and hold Ctrl while you select the other lines, and then press Delete.

Dashed blue lines appear on the sheet. Note: To hide the dashed blue lines from sight, on the Excel menu, click Preferences, click View, and then clear the Show page breaks check box.
Black, cyan, magenta, or yellow vertical lines or streaks can be caused by a dirty corona wire, a toner cartridge, or the drum unit. To identify if a corona wire, toner cartridge, or the drum unit could be causing the issue, follow the steps below. 1.
On your computer, in the Windows Notification Area (bottom-right corner of your Windows desktop), right-click the printer icon. In the printer menu, select the Properties or Preferences option. In the printer settings window, the ink or toner levels are displayed for the currently-installed cartridge(s).
Banding refers to the visible change from one color to another instead of a smooth, fading gradient. You`re most likely to see color banding in gradient backgrounds you create for your renderings or in photographs, natural gradients like skies are prime for color banding.
First, check the print speed setting of your printer. If you have it set to draft mode, it`s going to give you a lighter, less defined print. For an easy fix, shift your print settings to a regular print mode.
Why is it important to clean a laser printer? Printing is vital to all businesses so ensuring your laser printer is thoroughly cleaned is crucial as it allows your machine to continue working efficiently. Cleaning a laser printer is easy with the correct equipment, however they are prone to dust and debris.
What maintenance does a laser printer need? To keep your printer running at maximum capacity, you need to maintain its working parts. Dust and wipe it down regularly inside and out with a no-lint towel and rubbing alcohol. Turn off your printers regularly, especially when they aren`t in use for a long while.

Print Quality Issue (Streaks and Ghosting)
ANSWER : Streaks are mostly caused by internal drum wiper blades that clean left over toner off the drum to prepare it for a new image. Ghosting is caused by a leftover image on the drum. The 6 inches that you mention would be the circumference of the part that is causing it. Fusers will never cause either problem.
