Medium business with 10 users, approx 10,000/mo printing, can you recommend a printer?
ANSWER : Those aren’t that old. I have a lot of customers who are still using 4200 series and older. Unfortunately, those were a lot more durable and longer lasting than your models. In my vast experience going back over 25 years, I have see the quality of printers going steadily downhill. Where in the past I have seen a couple of printers survive falling off the back of moving pickup trucks, they now won’t survive a fall off of a desk top. I can’t recommend a newer model because they won’t last longer than your models will. Another fact is that since the cost of the printers is going down, the cost of parts and repairs go up. ANSWER : You can quit wondering. Parts are unavailable. I’ve seen posts where people have 3D printed the parts or machined them out of metal.

Paper gets crinkled up in printer
ANSWER : It is almost always a torn scrap of paper or some other debris in the paper path. You can try and dislodge it by cutting a piece of file folder and shoving it down the paper path from the back. That works most times.

smudged parts on printouts
ANSWER : You don’t give enough detail. It’s doubtful the new drums would cause smudging. If it’s just one color, then look at the surface of the drum. It should be visible. If you don’t see it on the drum and it repeats several times on the page, then it would be a worn or dirty surface on the fuser.

Brother HL-2040 Drum Light Driving Me Crazy!
ANSWER : Cleaning the drum unit with QTip dipped in alcohol did not get rid of the drum light. But I shined the inside of the printer and saw lots of toner. Cleaning it with the QTip dipped in alcohol where the drum unit would be inserted did get rid of the drum light! Saved me lots of money, I had bought two drum kits before to get rid of the drum light but it turned out the printer inside was dirty. So could have saved lots of money! Thanks to this forum for bringing it to my attention. So far this printer has been working for over 10 years and the parts are cheaper now.

ANSWER : How do you expect Epson to make any money if you’re only going to print in black? Why would they let you do that?
