Grayscale: Uses ink from both the color and black cartridges to produce a wider range of black and grey tones for high quality black and white prints. Print all text as black: All contents of the document, regardless of color, print in black.
With grayscale printing you can reproduce color images as high-quality black and white images by using many shades of gray to represent subtle variations in color and light.
Monochrome printing only requires a small amount of black ink, while grayscale printing mixes black and color ink or toner to make up different shades of gray. So, if you use grayscale to print black text, you end up needlessly using your color cartridge.
Check Print in GrayScale Setting:

To apply this setting, right-click on your HP printer and select your printer preferences. Next, right-click on the `Color` tab, select `Print in Grayscale` and then click on `Apply.

Why is grayscale needed for image processing? It helps in simplifying algorithms and as well eliminates the complexities related to computational requirements. It makes room for easier learning for those who are new to image processing. This is because grayscale compressors an image to its barest minimum pixel.
Unlike full-color printing, which applies multiple colors in various concentrations, grayscale printing only uses black ink to compose an image. In order to represent the variations in tone and contrast within the image, the ink is applied in concentrations ranging from 0% black to 100% black.
There are other benefits to grayscale mode as well: It can be easier on your eyes and help you read and view things better if you`re colorblind. Turning your iPhone black and white is easy—and switching back and forth is easy, too.
How Color vs. Black and White Cartridges Affect the Environment. Even though black and color cartridges have the same physical impact on the environment, black and white printing is still better for the environment. Since it uses less ink cartridges than printing in color, less will end up in landfills.
Remember, printers use both black and colour inks when printing grayscale, so you`re not saving anything by doing so unnecessarily. Some printers will print with only a black ink cartridge installed – if your printer does this, you can technically save ink and use black ink only to print.
Many printer models require at least some ink in all cartridges to keep printing. However, if you`re lucky, your software may allow you to squeeze out the rest of your color ink without using black.
Whether you use an HP printer or any other, you can make it possible to print in black while your printer screen is showing the color cartridge empty notification. All you need to do is reset your printer first and then, make certain print settings i.e open the option of “Print in Grayscale”.
At the Windows Manage your device screen, click Printing preferences. Under Select Color, at the bottom right of the screen, choose: Auto Color, for color printing. Gray Scale, for black and white printing.
On the one hand, grayscale images convey less information than RGB. However, they are common in image processing because using a grayscale image requires less available space and is faster, especially when we deal with complex computations.
The holdings of Grayscale`s digital asset products are safe and secure. Balances are reflected in historical public filings and have been evaluated by our third-party auditors.
Grayscale color mode, also known as black and white color mode, is composed of two colors: black and white. It is used to reproduce an image with different shades of grey. A computer monitor represents only one form of black.
Colour pixels are RGB, meaning they have three pieces of information associated with them, namely the Red, Green and Blue components. Grayscale pixels have one component, a gray tone derived from a graduate scale from black to white. A colour pixel is generally 24-bit (3 × 8-bit), and a gray pixel is just 8-bit.
To get a grayscale image, the color information from each channel is removed, leaving only the luminance values, and that is why the image becomes a pattern of light and dark areas devoid of color, essentially a black and white image.
Achromatopsia is a condition characterized by a partial or total absence of color vision. People with complete achromatopsia cannot perceive any colors; they see only black, white, and shades of gray.
Grayscale images, a kind of black-and-white or gray monochrome, are composed exclusively of shades of gray. The contrast ranges from black at the weakest intensity to white at the strongest.
CMYK Colour Mode

CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key/Black) is the colour space for printed materials, so you should be using the CMYK colour profile for any design that will be physically printed.

CMYK is a four-color process and stands for cyan, magenta, yellow and key (black), and is preferred for use on printed materials because it helps achieve a true color.
Printing Costs B&W vs Color

Printing in color is more expensive than printing in black and white. That is because color printing uses all four color cartridges at once. So, you will be draining all four cartridges at once instead of just one. So, it ends up being more expensive.

There`s no question in this area: Black is by far the most-used ink color. Black ink is used for almost all text in a printed document, and many documents like research papers that don`t include color graphs may use exclusively black ink.
Which function uses more ink: printing or copying? Printing can use more toner or ink to be able to produce rich images. On the other hand, copiers use less toner but they produce less vibrant images.

I replaced the black toner cartridge and now the printer shakes though it is fine when I set it for grayscale only prints
ANSWER : You need to unlock the carousel. Once you unlock it and remove the toners, ignore all the rest of the crap. Pick any color and align the cartridge slot on the left side like you would have it to remove the cartridge. Then pull out on the gear towards you on the right and drop it so the right slot is lined up as well. You can get it aligned pretty close by just eyeballing it visually. I’ve never seen the left side go out of alignment, just the right, so this method has worked for me everytime.
