How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

Vertical lines in prints are an early warning sign of a low ink cartridge, which may show up before the printer`s low ink alerts start. You can fix the problem by replacing the low cartridge. Gently shaking the drained cartridge a bit may help to get another few prints out of it without vertical lines.
This is typically resolved by cleaning and/or replacing the drum unit. Brother recommends that customers use only genuine Brother drum units and/or toner cartridges.
When your printer leaves black lines, the lines indicate that there are excess toner powders on the rollers or transfer belt within the printer. As the paper is moved along by the rollers and transfer belt, any excess powder left on them can result in lines being left on the paper.
Black, cyan, magenta, or yellow vertical lines or streaks can be caused by a dirty corona wire, a toner cartridge, or the drum unit.
A printer printing lines on the page are normally caused by a blocked, dirty, or damaged print head. Blocked ink cartridge nozzles, or not removing protective seals correctly when you installed a new ink cartridge can also cause missing lines of print.
Streaks and unwanted lines could mean that the printer heads are out of alignment. There`s an alignment tool in the printer`s control panel. If that`s not the issue then the printer is dirty. Printer ink stripes may appear along the edges of the paper, which means there`s ink on the rollers and other parts.
If the outer coating is coming apart then you will have parts of the print that is not getting properly fused and will lead to blurred or smeared print. 2. Creased or wrinkled paper – Just like above, the outer coating of the rollers are coming apart.
Vertical Streaks or Lines

Vertical white lines also can signal an obstruction that prevents the laser from imaging pages correctly. Resolving that problem can require cleaning elements of the laser assembly or replacing it altogether.

You`ll know the drum is dirty if you notice that the print quality has become blurry and features blank spots or oddly-colored spots despite having full toner cartridges. Horizontal lines across the printout when the paper passes over a dirty area are another sign that it`s time for some maintenance.
Banding is a defect in inkjet printing that will appear as horizontal or vertical lines, streaks or bands in the printed output. Everyone will eventually experience some type of banding with their inkjet printer.
If your printouts are blurry or smeared, try these solutions: Make sure your paper is not damp, curled, old, or loaded incorrectly in your product. Use a support sheet with special paper, or load special paper one sheet at a time. Make sure your paper meets the specifications for your product.
Wet your paper with a moist sponge or a piece of cloth. As an alternative, dip the paper in water and place it on your table. The water makes the paper stick to your working surface.
Curl occurs when in-plane layers within a sheet expand or contract at different rates. Different expansion/contraction rates are caused by differences in fiber orientation, difference in composition (fines, fillers, coatings), draws, drying conditions and differences in sheet moistures.
The drum is the most likely cause of vertical streaks appearing on the output of a laser printer. A laser printer uses a complex process to produce high-quality printed documents. The printer`s drum is a critical component in this process, as it is responsible for transferring the image onto the paper.
A cartridge may be running out of ink even if the graphic shows ink remaining (see the note at the start of this section). Lines or streaks always appear in printouts when the cartridges begin to run out of ink. Replace print cartridges that are out of ink or low on ink.
The linea nigra is a dark vertical line that appears on the skin of your stomach during pregnancy. It`s also called the pregnancy line.
A vertical line is a line extending up and down. On a table (like the one shown to the right), the legs of the table are vertical lines. The y-axis is an example of a vertical line.
Use isopropyl alcohol or ethanol according to the manufacturer`s safety guidelines, as applicable. Wipe the roller with a lint-free cloth dipped in isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. After cleaning the roller, make sure that no lint or other material remains on the roller.
1 Prepare cleaning material. For cleaning, HP recommends using HP Equipment Cleaning Wipes, but you can use an HP-approved lint-free wipe and deionized or distilled water. Note: If dark spots appear on back side of prints, clean drum screen.
Drum Error typically appears when the corona wire on the drum unit needs to be cleaned or when the drum unit needs to be replaced. If you replaced the drum and the message appeared or continued to appear immediately after installing the replacement drum, click here. 1. Clean the corona wire inside the drum unit.
Print head cleaning consumes some ink. To avoid wasting ink, clean the print head only if print quality declines; for example, if the printout is blurry or the color is incorrect or missing.
The average lifespan of a printer is around 3-5 years. With proper upkeep and maintenance, some printers can last longer, but eventually your machine will need an upgrade.
Black, cyan, magenta, or yellow vertical lines or streaks can be caused by a dirty corona wire, a toner cartridge, or the drum unit. Follow the steps below to clean the corona wire and the drum roller. 1. Review your printed pages to identify the color causing the problem.
