Either replace the Cyan cartridge or buy a chip reset tool online. I once found them at the 99 cent store, but that was a long time ago.

Unfortunately it is not possible to print using the black and white while any of the ink cartridges are empty. Using the Black ink only possible while there is color ink as well.
When color ink is expended and black ink still remains, you can continue printing for a short time using only black ink. However, you should replace the expended ink cartridge(s) as soon as possible.
Grayscale printing means your printer uses cyan, magenta and yellow to make blacks richer.
Go to your computer and click “Print” from the file that you wanted to print. Click on “Properties” and then the “Color” tab next. Select the “Print in grayscale” option by clicking on its checkbox. You can now start printing in black and white.
Black Print Mode allows you to print only with black ink as a temporary emergency measure to minimise the down time in the event any colour inks are expended, even if there is no replacement cartridges available.
The printer will not operate if a black ink cartridge is expended or any cartridge is removed. If a color cartridge is expended, you may be able to continue printing temporarily with black ink. It`s best to always have extra cartridges on hand.
Method 1 – Bypassng Ink Cartridge on Epson Printer
After opening the lid, hold the ink button down. When you find the ink holer is moving to its position, then open the cartridge`s lid which is having no ink. Close it again without removing the cartridge. Close the lid and start to print.
STEP 1

Sometimes, the Printer cartridge clogs down because of ink flow. In that case, you should clean the Clodges from it using a pin or something else. You can fix the “Epson printer not printing black” ink issue by cleaning its printhead using the distilled water, and sponges.
Check the ink levels Sometimes, the printer may not print black ink because it is low or empty. You can check the ink levels on the printer`s display, or by using the software that came with your printer. If the ink level is low, replace the cartridge or refill it according to the manufacturer`s instructions.
Monochrome printing only requires a small amount of black ink, while grayscale printing mixes black and color ink or toner to make up different shades of gray. So, if you use grayscale to print black text, you end up needlessly using your color cartridge.
This is because cyan ink absorbs red light and reflects green and blue—remember than green + blue light = cyan. If we want a printed surface to appear blue, we need both cyan ink (to absorb red), and magenta ink (to absorb green)—so the only additive color left to be reflected is blue.
The ink levels may be low and you may need to refill the ink. Visually check the ink levels. Also make sure you filled the tanks with the correct colors of ink. After you print, the colors in your printout need time to set as the ink dries.
The quick answer is: Yes, you can (if you own a printer model that allows it) — but you shouldn`t keep printing with an empty cartridge for too long. Why? Because running on an empty cartridge for too long can cause your printhead to overheat resulting in irreversible printer damage.
These four colors are known as CMYK, which stands for cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. Those four colors each have their own cartridge. When you print an image, the printer will pull the needed amounts from each one and place it on the page. Where this can go awry is with excessive black and white printing.
Check you have the latest drivers installed for your printer, try uninstalling and reinstalling your printer drivers or try changing the driver settings (adjusting the paper settings has been known to solve the problem). Fully Reconfigure the Printer – If all else fails, you can try entirely reconfiguring your printer.
You can also tell which cartridge is empty by checking the speed at which the error light flashes when the print head moves to the ink cartridge replacement position. See the table below. Replace the black ink cartridge if the error light flashes at the same speed as the power light.
If you are trying to install a black ink cartridge in a color cartridge slot, your printer will not function and you could potentially cause damage to the machine. Some photo inkjet printers require two black ink cartridges to print text and more defined shades of black in your photos.
Epson does not recommend refilling or using 3rd party ink cartridges. Using these products will not void the product`s original warranty, however, if these 3rd party products cause a failure, the repair of that failure will not be covered under warranty.
Epson printers contain a permanent print head that needs to be charged with all colors to work. Even when you are printing black text only, a small amount of color ink is used to keep the print head charged. The print head needs to be kept charged to prevent air bubbles from entering and damaging the print head.
Set Default to Black and White
Right-click on the printer and click Printer properties. In the printer properties window, go to General tab and click Preferences button. In the Printing Preferences window, go to Paper/Output tab. Select Black and White.
Cyan pigments absorb red light and reflect blue and green light. Magenta pigments absorb green light and reflect red and blue light.
There may be several reasons behind the issue, such as empty ink cartridges, Clogged Print Head Nozzles, and Incorrect Print Settings. There may be a fault in the settings of Color Management as well. You can fix it via Running a Nozzle Check or enabling the Print Settings to Color or Replacing the Ink Cartridges.
