Pull back on the plunger of the syringe to draw ink out of the first cartridge. Continue to draw ink until the syringe is full or no more ink comes out of the cartridge. Stick the needle of the syringe into the cartridge into which you would like to transfer the ink until it touches the bottom.
Transport your cartridges properly.
Keep the cartridge in a `print head down` position as much as possible. This will keep ink at the print head which minimizes drying out. Do not put your cartridges in a plastic bag because the bag can easily contact the print head and cause ink to leak from the cartridge.
Printer cartridges can be replaced on an as needed basis! If one cartridge is running low, you do not have to replace the other colors at the same time. However, you do need to have all of the printer cartridges installed in the printer for it to work.
Before you install a new ink cartridge into your printer, be sure to inspect it. Gently shake the cartridge or tap it on a hard surface a couple times to prime the ink. Ideally, you want to do this BEFORE you remove the protective tape.
Store the toner cartridge inside the protective bag or clamshell packaging in which the toner cartridge was originally shipped. If the original packaging is not available, cover the top opening of the toner cartridge with paper and store it in a dark cabinet or dark area with no light sources.

Can you print with one or two empty ink cartridges? The quick answer is: Yes, you can (if you own a printer model that allows it) — but you shouldn`t keep printing with an empty cartridge for too long.
Printing on 5% = 480 pages (the official page yield). Printing on 10% = 240 pages. Printing on 20% = 120 pages. Printing on 40% = 60 pages.
Using a generic or refilled ink cartridge won`t automatically void your warranty, but it`s important to note that any damage caused specifically from using a non-HP ink product won`t be covered by the warranty for your HP printer.

The toner cartridge shelf life is 2 years if the protective bag is unopened or 6 months after the protective bag is opened.
Store them in a cool, dark, and dry place, out of reach of children. Store cartridges in a sealed bag and optionally in a closed box to prevent light and humidity from influencing their lifespan. You may place a damp cloth or paper in the sealed bag to prevent inks from drying out.
If you disable your printer`s memory chip from collecting your printer usage information, you can continue using your printer even if the toner or ink is finished. So you want to inspect your printer`s ink level at interval by removing it to avoid your ink running out!
When you send a print job from your computer, the computer tells the printer where to deposit the ink or toner. If there isn`t enough ink or toner left in the cartridge, the printer will display a low or empty sign to indicate you should replace the cartridge soon.
Toner cartridges should always be disposed of in an appropriate container or bin and shouldn`t be treated like a regular trash item. If you`re at home, you can put your cartridges in the recycling bin. At the office, find out if a recycling program is already in place.
Missing colours, streaky prints, smudges and ink blotches are all signs that your printer ink or toner cartridge may be damaged. Some printers will actually warn you if a cartridge is damaged and will refuse to print. This includes HP ink cartridges, Samsung toner cartridges and Canon ink cartridges.
Until the print head wears out you can continue to recycle your empty cartridges. Generally, you can expect to refill your empty OEM cartridge between 2-6 times.

ANSWER : Hi Frank, I had a very similar question two weeks ago, but my “old beloved workhorse” is an HP Laserjet 4L. From the good old days! I too had made bad investments in “new but old truly HP” toner cartridges, hoping to coax more life from my printer. I ended up choosing to try a remanufactured cartridge from www.4inkjets.com. It was a gamble, but the website said they had a 100% satisfaction guarantee. And I can tell you they have lighting fast service. I’ve now printed 50 pages without a flaw. JOY! Toner cartridge full, printer displays: "empty needs replacing"
ANSWER : I once went to a customer who had a similar issue. They had installed new cartridges and judging from the box, they looked OEM. Strange thing was they felt empty when lifted and they were missing the chip on the outside that tells the printer it is installed and keeps track of how many copies were printed with that cartridge. The printer has no other way of knowing if the cartridge is full or empty.

Waste Toner Cartridge is empty but printer is still telling me to replace it
ANSWER : All of the ones I’ve seen are optical. Light shines through a transparent section of the waste box onto a photocell. If toner builds up past that area, it gives a warning to replace it. Possibly toner dust has gotten on the photocell.
