Reset or Replace a Chip
If this type of chip is in your toner, you will need to replace the chip when refilling your cartridge. Other chips can be reset with a “resetter,” a small plastic tool that physically connects with the cartridge chip and tells the chip to return its count of spent droplets to zero.
Toner chips store the levels of usage by monitoring your cartridge`s print count, or the number or ink droplets that have been used so far when printing. Chips are programmed for specific toner designs and will provide warnings and stop printing once a certain number of droplets have been used.
Optical toner sensing. The printer directs a light beam into the toner hopper through a window (light guide). If unblocked by toner, the light exits through an opposite window and is detected by a receiver. When the optical receiver detects light a high percent- age of the time, the printer concludes that toner is low.
To be able to use your printer, it needs to have a sensory chip. The chip embedded in a toner cartridge relays a number of data metrics to the printer and, subsequently, to your computer, smartphone, or tablet. Primarily, the chip tells the printer just how much toner is left in the cartridge.
Locate the smart chip, which will always be on the underside of the cartridge. You can do this by removing the plastic tabs securing the chip to the cartridge. Use a sharp, thin tool to do this, such as a Swiss army knife or utility knife.
If your new compatible toner cartridge came without a chip, you will have to re-use the chip from the original HP toner that came with your printer in order to use the compatible toner. The cartridge will work fine EXCEPT the printer will not read the toner levels.
Toner Save Mode allows the printer to use less toner on each page.
You can handle the chip with plastic tweezers, clean hands, or in a way that will not scratch it. Also, make sure to to insert the chip the correct way – it is advised to place your toners side by side to assure correct transfer. If a chip is inserted upside down, it will not work in your printer.

As the developer is stirred and the particles rub up against each other, a triboelectric charge is generated between the them. The toner becomes negatively charged while the carrier becomes positive. The opposite charges cause the toner to be attracted to the carrier.

Do you wash toner off? There is no need to rinse toner off of your face, instead you can let it sink in and allow skin to absorb its nourishing ingredients.
