HP LaserJet 8100DN
I have an HP 8100DN that I use in my printing business. It has been a tank, just indestrutable. Very good quality, seldom jams, no complaints. But…….I recently printed a carbonless form on 3-part white, canary, pink, 8.5×14. The job looked great, not a jam after a thousand sheets. A half hour later, I print a sheet and there is a line of tiny dots all across the sheet, repeating down the sheet. I pull the cartridge and rotate the green drum and there they are, a row of tiny toner dots all across the drum. They will not wipe off and appear to be fused to the drum. The cartridge is ruined at this point. The stock I used was NCR Superior for digital equipment. Any thoughts?

You can try alcohol on a cotton pad to remove the toner. Wipe dry afterwards. If the drum does not have nicks in the coating, it should be OK.

The drum uses static electricity to attract powdered toner to the drums cylinder. The drum rolls the toner onto the paper in the form of your print. The toner is melted & pressed onto the paper by heat from a fuser as it passes through its rollers. Your print comes out of the printer.
The paper passes through rollers in the fuser assembly, where temperatures up to 427 °C (801 °F) and pressure are used to permanently bond the toner to the paper. One roller is usually a hollow tube (heat roller) and the other is a rubber-backed roller (pressure roller).

A transfer roller is an electrically-charged roller located underneath the toner cartridge. When the paper passes through the drum, it also passes through the roller which transfers toner onto the page.
There are four possible causes why the toner does not stick to the paper/media when printing: The wrong type of paper/print media is being used. The Paper Type setting is wrong for the type of paper/media being used. One or more of the toner cartridges being used are not supported or are not working correctly.

A printer printing lines on the page are normally caused by a blocked, dirty, or damaged print head. Blocked ink cartridge nozzles, or not removing protective seals correctly when you installed a new ink cartridge can also cause missing lines of print.

Any image printed with toner can be transferred to another surface like paper, panel/wood, fabric, plastics, or vinyl using acrylic matte medium. It`s important to keep in mind that if a surface is too slick the medium doesn`t always adhere well.
The method we are going to use for making the PCB is called Toner Transfer Method. In this method, we will take a print of the PCB Layout on a piece of special paper using Laser Printer and transfer the Toner from the paper on to the PCB board using heat transfer (iron box).

ANSWER : You can, but there are good knock-offs and bad ones. I’ve run into ones that come totally empty. Ones that don’t have the chips installed that identify themselves to the printer. Ones that have sat on a shelf for years and fail on installation. I could go on, but I’m sure you get the idea. ANSWER : HI there, oki image drums contain a fuse. You can reset them if they are working/printing ok by replacing the fuse. Hope this helps. The fuse is located inside the unit so is a bit fiddly.
