How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

Standard toner cartridges print approximately 1,500 A4 or Letter-size single-sided pages. Approx. cartridge yield is declared in accordance with ISO/IEC 19752. High yield toner cartridges print approximately 2,600 A4 or Letter-size single-sided pages.
Remove the protective cover. Insert the toner cartridge into the drum unit and gently pull it toward you until you hear it lock into place. Make sure that you match the toner cartridge colour to the same colour label on the drum unit. Repeat this for all toner cartridges.
The toner cartridge is the container that holds the toner powder and the drum unit is an electrically charged cylinder that transfers that toner powder to paper to create text and images. Brother sells the toner cartridge and drum unit as two separate consumables.
A simple trick on many Brother printers showing a “low toner” warning is to simply pop the cartridge out of the printer, wait a moment, and push it back in. This resets the printer memory and tells the machine to “look again” at toner levels. This can allow you to get more out of your Brother toner cartridge.
For their ink supply, most inkjet printers are loaded with either two or four cartridges in total.
On your computer, in the Windows Notification Area (bottom-right corner of your Windows desktop), right-click the printer icon. In the printer menu, select the Properties or Preferences option. In the printer settings window, the ink or toner levels are displayed for the currently-installed cartridge(s).
Each Brother inkjet printer only takes a specific set of cartridges – they are not interchangeable. If you have a new Brother device but have some cartridges left over from your old printer, unless they are compatible models the cartridges won`t fit.
A typical toner cartridge will produce anywhere between 2,500 and 4,000 pages, based on a coverage of 5% (roughly third of a page of double-spaced text). Dense pages filled with small font text or graphics will dramatically reduce this output and you may only get up to 1,000 pages per cartridge.
And those devices still require investment, time, engineering and resources in order to produce. So, to make up for it, manufacturers charge a premium for their proprietary toner cartridges, in order to recoup their investment.
Use only a cotton swab, or a dry lint-free cloth. We recommend placing the toner cartridge and drum unit assemblies on a clean, flat surface with disposable paper underneath it in case you accidentally spill or scatter toner.
How Do I Know if My Printer Needs Toner vs Ink? You can check your printer manual for this, but as a general rule, you need toner for laser printers and ink cartridges for inkjet printers.
The standard cartridge is your run-of-the-mill cost savings cartridge. It typically gives you about 10,000–12,000 pages.
The most obvious sign of low toner cartridge is poor print quality. Streaking, lines or missed prints are all possible signs that cartridge replacement is imminent. If you have tried rocking the toner cartridge and are still getting poor prints, it is likely time to replace your cartridge.
While toner cartridges are commonly refilled with results reported to be good, in at least some cases refilling without full remanufacturing may leave waste toner from each print and paper debris in the cartridge, potentially causing backgrounding problems and producing contamination in the refilled cartridge.
Check ink or toner levels from the printer control panel

Look for an Ink drop icon ( or ), a Cartridge icon , an Ink Levels menu, or a Toner Level indicator.

While toner lasts longer than the printing ink used in inkjet printers, a toner cartridge has a finite shelf life and should be used before it goes bad. Using toner after its expiration date has passed can have negative effects on your print jobs and the devices they`re used in.
One bottle is recommended for hair that touches your shoulders and is fine/medium thickness. With toner, you really want to make sure you fully saturate your hair – this will ensure you don`t get any patchiness. For thicker or longer hair, I recommend two bottles.
Your printer`s ink cartridge number is printed on the top or front of the ink cartridge carrier on a sticker. The sticker also contains the color of the cartridge – black, magenta, yellow and cyan.

The inks are compatible with the Brother MFC-J1010DW, MFC-J1012DW, and MFC-J1170DW all-in-one inkjet printers.

Brother printer not recognizing cartridges

Firstly, try to reset the printer by pressing the power button 7 times. This will clear the error message and the printer should start to print again. For Brother machines it`s also possible to reset the cartridge via the menu on the printer.

In some places, compatible toner is also called clone toner as they are essentially an off-brand copy of the OEM cartridges. A well-made compatible toner cartridge is designed to work exactly the same as your OEM toner cartridge.
However, there can be a difference between price and value. A compatible toner may be inconsistent and have a shorter lifespan. This means that while you pay less initially, you may end up buying more cartridges because they don`t last as long.
While Brother claims to be the best brand in terms of cost per high-quality print, HP boasts supremacy in terms of preference, durability, and printing quality, provoking discussion and, most of the time, misunderstanding among end customers.
