Canon printer not recognising a new ink cartridge

Hold down the stop / cancel button for 5 seconds to bypass the `ink has run out` message and your cartridge should work. The cancel button is a red button that normally looks like a triangle in a circle.

Why is my Epson printer skipping lines when printing? Apart from a clogged printhead, one other potential culprit is the electronic connection of your cartridges with your printer. Try removing your cartridges from your printer, and then shutting your printer down.
Hey, you can reset Epson ink cartridge without resetter! As shown above, you can reset Epson chips by pressing and holding the button above the chip with a bent paper clip for 10 seconds.
One side of the cartridge may not be seated fully in the cartridge`s holder or the cartridge may not be all the way in the holder. To resolve the error, turn off your printer and remove the cartridge. Reinstall the cartridge until you hear the cartridge click in place or it`s fully seated in its holder.
Remove the cartridges from your printer – switch your printer off. Using a piece of damp kitchen roll, gently wipe the copper plate on the cartridge. Allow the chips to air dry. Once the chips are completely dry, re-install the cartridges into your printer and switch the printer back on.
1: Check Printer Power, Cables, and Paper

Check that the correct paper is properly loaded into the printer and is not jammed. Replacing damaged cables, plugging in loose or disconnected cables, and fixing paper jams as necessary may resolve the issue.

Your Epson printer may have failed to recognize the new ink cartridge, or its ink level system has read it as empty. For numerous Epson printer models, there`s a way to bypass this built-in ink checking system through a quick cartridge reset. Raise the printer`s top cover and then hold the Ink button.
If there is a small amount of dust or ink residue on the contacts, it will prevent the cartridge from being recognised by the printer and show an error on the display or on your computer. Cleaning the chip contacts is a relatively quick task and can usually resolve the error.
It is usually situated above the metal contacts, right in the center. Please note that the button is very small and almost unnoticeable, so don`t miss it! Use the end of a paper clip to press the button, hold it for about 10 minutes, and voila — you have just reset an Epson ink cartridge with a paper clip like a pro!
The chip in question tells the printer when toner levels are getting low. A useful feature, certainly, but one that printer companies often use to lock out third-party cartridges—without the chip, the printer will say it doesn`t know how much ink or toner is inside the cartridge, assume it`s zero, and refuse to print.
Select Print Settings from the pop-up menu. Select plain papers or Envelope as the Media Type setting. Select the Grayscale check box. Click Print to close the Print dialog box.
Right-click the printer you want to manually enable and click Printer Properties. Under Advanced and Driver, note the name of your printer driver. Connect to your host computer and go to the manufacturer`s website of the printer driver. On the host computer, download the printer drivers associated with your printer.
Yes, you can reset the print settings to their original, default values. Press and hold down the Cancel button for 3 seconds. When the message to reset the printer to default settings appears, press OK to reset the print settings.
The default ID and Password are ID: epson, Pass: epson and are the same as the administrator for Network settings. Manual uploading of web content (. zip files) and certificate files are not possible. In order to upload these, it is necessary to use an uploading program, or upload using the TM-T88VI Utility.
If the printer says the cartridge is damaged or will still not recognise the cartridge then remove the cartridge and gently wipe the copper area or the cartridge with a dry soft cloth (the area known as the `chip`) to remove any static that may have accumulated on it and re-insert to see if it will solve the problem.
This error occurs due to the chip on your cartridge still reporting a low or empty ink level from its previous use. The chip itself cannot be reset, so when the cartridge is refilled and then installed into a new machine it will still register as empty.

Epson Stylus C64 in problems, Help!!!!
ANSWER : a lucky tip – if all else fails and you don’t have a PC instead of a Mac, try what I did on my C63. When the head finished moving and both red lights flashed with a “general error’ message, turn off the printer power supply and physically slide the head from its rest position to the far left of the printer. This seems to re-set the “foreign body” trigger. Turn the power back on, the head slowly moves back to the rest position and hey presto the lights have stopped flashing and the printer works! Sounds clumsy but you have nothing to lose trying it, the cost of repair exceeds the value of a 10 year old printer.
