Possible causes

This noise can be due to any one of the following: A piece of paper, or other obstruction, is stuck somewhere inside the printer. One of the toner cartridges or photo developer units may be installed incorrectly or may be damaged. A door or cover may not be closed completely.

Check to see if the Paper Out light is flashing, indicating there`s paper jammed inside the printer. If there is a jam see Clear paper jams in the Printer Guide. If grinding occurs from the front and rear and there`s no sign of a paper jam, contact Epson`s technical support for further assistance.
In some cases, the printer may be making noise because of a hardware issue, such as a loose part or a malfunctioning component. If this is the case, you may need to contact Epson customer support or take your printer to a repair shop to have it fixed.
When the bearings start to fail they tend to make a buzz sound. Then they stop working completely and your printer starts giving material movement issues as the extruders overheat. The easy way to test if it is a fan making the noise is to stop the fan turning briefly.
Also, impact printers have very high noise levels because they have several moving parts and also the printing head strikes on ribbon and paper. The quality of print produced by an impact printer is very poor than that of a non-impact printer.
A quick DIY fix for this is to put a thick yoga mat under your printers to dampen the sound, or even carpet. This does the trick because it absorbs the vibrations below the printer. Some people have put sponges and even foam underneath to get the same result.
To grease carriage rod A, locate the grease tool and pad A that came with your product. Press the maintenance button. You see the Maintenance menu on the product control panel screen. Press the up or down arrow button to select Grease Carriage Rod and press the OK button.
If your PC or the LCD screen on your printer is telling you that your ink cartridges are full but no ink is passing through to the paper, then it`s most likely that you are dealing with a clogged printhead. Blurry documents and images that appear faded are also signs that it`s time to remove the excess ink.
There are a few telltale signs that your 3D printer nozzle could be clogged. Material stringing, missing layers, clicking sounds in your extruder gears, and inconsistent extrusion patterns—specifically thin layers—are all symptoms of a partially clogged nozzle.
If your computer entered sleep mode the last time you printed, the next print job after your computer exits sleep mode may contain garbled characters. Print your document again. Windows or Mac: Make sure you are using the printer software for this product.

Paper feeds straight through without printing on an Epson R2400
ANSWER : I was able to get it to print the internal test page by holding down the sheet paper feed button while turning the machine on — then continuing to hold the sheet paper feed button. It took several attempts, feeding a page straight through, but eventually it caught the sheet and printed. So it may be a timing issue as others have mentioned. It could still mean that the feed rollers are worn out. The back side of the large D-shaped feed roller has visible abrasion on it. The abrasion is difficult to see as the roller does not stay with the flat side exposed.
