One of the most common causes of paper jams is that the paper has simply not been loaded correctly into the printer paper feed. With this in mind, remove any paper from the tray in order to check for any jams. If you do see some paper jammed, pull each sheet out of the printer slowly until the printer is clear again.
Paper jams can occur for a variety of reasons, such as overloading the paper tray, loading different thicknesses of paper in the tray, or using paper that isn`t appropriate for your particular printer. False paper jams can also occur.
Did you know most copier paper jams are caused by the paper itself? Misaligned paper. When a stack of paper isn`t aligned properly in the machine, it often causes a paper jam issue. When adding a ream of paper, always fan the paper, load carefully and avoid overstuffing the tray.
Improperly Loading Paper into the Device

Loading paper that is stuck together, frayed, curled or bent can cause a jam. Overloading the paper tray, loading different thicknesses of paper in the tray or using paper that isn`t appropriate for your particular printer can all result in a jammed printer.

A piece of paper stuck in the paper tray or inside the printer can create a paper jam. Paper jams can occur for a variety of reasons, such as overloading the paper tray, loading different thicknesses of paper in the tray, or using paper that isn`t appropriate for your particular printer.
A paper jam is the most common copy machine error encountered. The reasons for occurrence vary from the wrong paper size to improper paper loading. These issues cause copiers to pull paper through incorrectly, resulting in a jam.
Static can form if the paper is too dry; if the paper is too moist, it can stick together and cause paper jams. For paper already in your printer, remove it when you are not using the printer, and place it in an area with a constant temperature and humidity level.
Do a hard reset on your printer. To do this you just need to turn off your printer, unplug for a few minutes and then plug the printer again. If that still doesn`t work, try turning the printer and your computer off, and then start it back up again. Try uninstalling and then reinstalling your printer driver.
If the paper is even slightly askew, the rollers will pick it up a little crooked, and — guess what — the crooked sheet will immediately get jammed. So even though there`s no paper stuck when you start printing, the loose paper guides are ensuring that a sheet gets jammed whenever the printer starts doing its thing.

ANSWER : Everytime that I have seen that happen it was because there was a small scrap of paper in the paper path on the side of the fold. I have dislodged hundred, if not thousands of them by shoving a thin, flexible plastic stick down the paper path. You can also cut a piece of file folder to size and use that. For small scraps of paper, it is usually stiff enough to clear the obstruction.

Paper jam in tray 2 (but no paper pulled from tray) also M476DN models
ANSWER : Isopropyl alcohol is not recommended for rubber rollers. It dries out the rubber and hasten it’s cracking and breaking. It will do nothing to restore the grip. Those rollers are really hard to replace. It would be easy if that dumbass secondary menu really worked. None of the techs I’ve spoke to ever got into it. Everyone I know sends a print job and listens for the roller to rotate into position where you can pull it off.

PAPER JAM I CATRIDGE AREA
ANSWER : As a tech, I always look where the paper stops when it jams. Then I blame whatever is there for the cause. If it is stopping at the cartridge, then that would be the most likely cause. I would take the cartridge out and examine it for damage to the gear on the side. Then I would turn the drum gear to see if there was a lot of resistance that would cause the paper to stop. Most likely, cartridge replacement would cure the problem.
