Unknown Printer

Experienced technical support provide their insights in answering this question :
Hi there – did you resolve your issue? It exactly mirrors the issue with my Samsung CLP-310. Each print carries across to the subsequent print as a ghost/smeared image and I diagnosis has revealed the transfer belt (ITB) has smeared toner remaining post each print. I was therefore considering replacing the Transfer Belt, but fear it is not the issue as you found. Whatever should be removing the toner from the Transfer Belt post print, is not, and then I get smeared ghosting on subsequent prints of the last print. The only mitigation is to print 5 blank pages post print, then the ghosting/smearing reduces to nearly zero (proving that the toner is being removed partially at least)…. Any help gratefully received.

How to Identify and Fix Common Problems ?

Ghost prints happen when the drum or fuser unit within your printer become faulty. Because a fault with this element won`t heat the particles of the toner to a high enough temperature, the marks being made on the paper are much lighter in colour and appear more faded than typical documents.
Usually a quick paper setting adjustment will clear up a ghosting issue right away. Run a cleaning – Most printers have a cleaning function built into the machine. Run this a couple of times to attempt to clear up the printing issue. Inspect the drum – Sometimes excess toner powder can stick to the drum.
Most of the time, this is an alignment issue and can be solved at the printer side. There is, on at least one model printer, something called a “Line-Feed Calibration” that might be out of whack. This might be found on the printer control panel > Setup Menu > Tools.
Monocular ghost vision is often a result of astigmatism or dry eye syndrome. Binocular ghost vision may indicate a serious issue such as Grave`s ophthalmopathy or myasthenia gravis. Be sure to seek medical attention to sudden changes in your vision to receive the care that you need.
The only real workaround is to remap your keyboard so that the key combination you want to use is one that your keyboard is able to register. Remapping your keyboard means changing the response that each key gives. For example, you can remap your keys so that when you press the A key, your computer types a B.
If your refresh rate or resolution is too low or too high for your monitor, it can cause flickering or ghosting. To fix this, you need to adjust your refresh rate and resolution to match your monitor`s specifications and capabilities.
A ghost printer is a deleted printer that keeps appearing and reappearing even though you`ve tried to delete it and then done a server reboot.
Wipe clean the cartridge carriage where the cartridge connects to remove any dried ink (make sure the printer is off and unplugged). If the printhead is built into the printer, clean where the ink comes out with a damp cloth. Re-install cartridges and run a print head cleaning process.
Ghosting is a problem that every screen printer will probably run into at least once in his or her career. What is Ghosting? Ghosting is the disappearing, or fading of the garment`s color, directly under the printed area of stacked garments. This typically happens when printing low-bleed white ink on a colored shirt.
Ghost images are light images of pages that were previously printed that are appearing on the currently printed page. This is usually caused by the erasure lamp or cleaning blade. The cleaning blade is part of the toner cartridge and is easier to replace than the erasure lamp. Try replacing it first.
Dots are typically caused by foreign material inside the machine (for example, paper dust, glue from labels or envelopes, paper clips, staples) sticking to or damaging the surface of the drum. Toner builds up on or sticks to these areas on the drum and creates black dots on the printed page.

Printer won't print – reassembled from an imaging unit clean..
ANSWER : You have to realize the difficulty of troubleshooting a printer that an unexperienced person has taken apart. The pickup roller issue doesn’t sound like it is a worn pickup roller. It seems more like something wasn’t quite put together and is binding the drive motor. Since I can’t hear it or see it, that would be my best guess.
