HP Color Laser Jet 1600 – Thanks for all the above information. Even though the 1600 is a different printer, I followed the above: “…go to “System Configuration”; then to “Print Quality”; I then get a choice of “Replace Supplies” and then “Overide Out”…” Selecting “Overide Out” got my 1600 back to printing, although I did have do perform the steps TWICE before it seemed to take affect. Not sure what was going on, but I’m happy that people put the information out there for the rest of us to have.

HP encrypts the data, and there is no way to reset the chip, and there is no resetter that can bypass the protection.
Push down all the pins on the resetter. Depending on the printer model, there may be a button rather than pins. Keep pushing the pins/button on the cartridge until the LED lamp on the cartridge turns green, or it indicates with a beeping sound that the toner cartridge has been reset.
These chips, also called printer or ink smart chips, are used by printers to monitor the reserves and levels of your current toner cartridge. They communicate with your PC to provide warnings when certain levels are reached or if any other issue arises.
To reset memory, EEPROM is clocked nine times followed by the start condition. For this, a high SDA signal is looked for in each cycle while SCL is high, i.e., acknowledge function is called 9 times. SDA and SCL pins are connected to P1. 0 and P1.
Toner chips store the levels of usage by monitoring your cartridge`s print count, or the number or ink droplets that have been used so far when printing. Chips are programmed for specific toner designs and will provide warnings and stop printing once a certain number of droplets have been used.
Locate the smart chip, which will always be on the underside of the cartridge. You can do this by removing the plastic tabs securing the chip to the cartridge. Use a sharp, thin tool to do this, such as a Swiss army knife or utility knife.
Every Instant Ink cartridge has a unique chip on it that communicates back to HP through your printer – this is why Instant Ink printers must have an internet connection to function. This chip tracks your usage, ink levels etc.
The information includes the number of pages printed using the cartridge, the page coverage, frequency of printing, and the printing modes used. The printer uses the NPP (number of pages printed) to calculate how much ink left in the cartridge.
If your new compatible toner cartridge came without a chip, you will have to re-use the chip from the original HP toner that came with your printer in order to use the compatible toner. The cartridge will work fine EXCEPT the printer will not read the toner levels.

ANSWER : If you switch off toner control, you should keep an eye on your prints, and we aware of ink quality, so filling colours as they’re emptying. Nevertheless, it’s an small disturb for the a,ount of money you’re saving ¿isn’t it?

Reseting the ink levels for hp c7280,
ANSWER : I held the # and 6 down long enough to start a complete re-set of the printer But the Black ink level still shows as depleted when it is actually still half full.

ANSWER : How about the situation when resistor does not reset the transfer belt count and even new transfer belt out of the box is not doing it. Do you have any idea how to solve this problem? I did reset transfer belts and fusing units on several HL 4700 printers with no problem but also I came across few which were not possible to reset even with oryginal parts.
