The maintenance cartridge is a container for absorbing ink used during maintenance tasks such as print head cleaning. For information on the model number of the maintenance cartridge, see Consumables. Replacement may be necessary even when the maintenance cartridge is not full (error, etc.).
Overview. The MC-G02 Maintenance Cartridge is a replacement for the Maintenance Cartridge installed in select Canon PIXMA MegaTank printers. Designed to be easily replaceable by users.
But users can empty and reuse the maintenance cartridge, making a new cartridge unnecessary. The problem is that the cartridge has a built-in “counter” chip, which will tell the printer that the cartridge is full — even if the user emptied it.
If this type of chip is in your toner, you will need to replace the chip when refilling your cartridge. Other chips can be reset with a “resetter,” a small plastic tool that physically connects with the cartridge chip and tells the chip to return its count of spent droplets to zero.
The chip is programmed to automatically reset when the cartridge reads empty in the printer, is removed, refilled with ink, and reinstalled. Upon reinserting the cartridge, the ink level will be reset to full. This style chip can NOT be manually reset.
If the maintenance cartridge becomes full, an error message is displayed and the printer stops working until it is replaced with a new one. Do not touch the terminal (A) or opening (B) of the maintenance cartridge.
A maintenance cartridge is used to store excess ink expelled from the printer, and works like the ink absorber on other models. When this becomes full, the maintenance cartridge is user replaceable as opposed to the ink absorber.
On your desktop, click on “Start” and then click on “Devices and Printers” Right click on the Canon printer option. Click on “Properties” On the “Maintenance” tab click on “Deep Cleaning”
Although, if performed by a professional and with the right equipment, you can expect high-quality printing. Cartridge breakdown – You can only refill your cartridge up to five times.
You can do this by removing the plastic tabs securing the chip to the cartridge. Use a sharp, thin tool to do this, such as a Swiss army knife or utility knife. Slide the blade of the knife under one of the plastic tabs. Gently pry up.
