Reinstall my printer

In Windows, search for and open Add a printer or scanner . Click Add a printer or scanner, and then wait for Windows to locate available printers. If your printer is found, click it, and then click Add device to complete the driver installation.

In Windows, search for and open Control Panel. Click Devices and Printers. For each printer icon that represents the name of your HP printer, right-click the icon, and then click Remove Device or Uninstall device.

Step one: Reset the product

Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Wait 30 seconds. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.

Simply plug the USB cable from your printer into an available USB port on your PC, and turn the printer on. On the taskbar, select the Search icon, type Printers in the search bar, and then select Printers & scanners from the search results to open the Printers & scanners system setting.

Open the Settings App, then go to Apps – Installed Apps, scroll through the list on that settings page, if you can find any software for your printer uninstall it from there. Open Devices and Printers, you should be able to right click and uninstall the printer from there.

More usually, this software can be opened from the Taskbar icon on the bottom right of your screen, if you cannot see the HP logo, click the up arrow beside your taskbar, notification area . . . Power to the Developer!

The most common reason is an unreliable connection between the printer and the computer. You might also have a paper jam, out-of-date drivers or a print spooler service with bad data.

If you see this error again, it may be caused by low hard drive space or the Print Spooler service may not be running. You cannot install a printer or print with a printer when this service is stopped. If it is stopped, starting the Print Spooler may allow the driver to be installed.

In the Devices and Printers window click on Add a printer. Choose “Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings”, then click Next. Select Create a new port and choose Standard TCP/IP Port, then click Next. Under Hostname or IP address: Type in the IP address of the printer you intend to connect to.

Your printer should have been packaged with a USB cable regardless of whether it is a wireless or wired printer. Plug the cable into your printer and your computer`s USB port. The direct linking should trigger your computer to recognize the printer and start up the software needed to complete the installation.

If you`ve just bought a new HP printer, or if you`re trying to reinstall the software on your existing printer, just go to HP Customer Support – Software and Driver Downloads, enter your device name, and choose your desired software from the available list.

Check the printer connection status: Make sure the wireless signal is on, and the printer is connected to the same network as your computer or mobile device. If your printer has a light next to a Wireless icon or button , make sure the light is on. If it is off or blinks, the printer is disconnected from the network.

Restart devices

If your printer connects to a Wi-Fi network, disconnect your computer or mobile device from the network name (SSID), and then reconnect it to the same network name your printer is connected to. If the printer is available and has a ready status, the issue is resolved.
