HP Color LaserJet 4700
My printer will not accept a brand new magenta Descom cartridge. It shows that it is empty on the display. I have tried to take the cartridge in and out several times with no result.
Experienced technical support provide their insights in answering this question :
Enable the “Cartridge Override at Out” feature. When implemented, this feature allows the customer to configure the printer to bypass the “replace cartridge” indicator on the printer display panel and continue printing, even though the internal components of the cartridge may be significantly worn. Once this feature is enabled, the only indication that a cartridge needs to be replaced will be that of degraded print quality. To enable this option, see the following instructions:
How to Identify and Fix Common printer Problems ?

4700 Fuser Reset Procedure To clear the Replace Fuser message on an HP 4700 reset, remove old fuser with power on and install replacement fuser. Allow printer to return to Ready state. There are no user resets or fuser count resets to perform on this printer.
Press your printer`s Setup button. Go to System Setup. Choose Print Quality and then Calibrate Color. Choose Calibrate Now and press OK.
Recommended action. Turn the printer off, wait 15 seconds and turn the printer back on (using the power switch located on the back of the printer). The error code should not appear again.
Streaking, smudging, black lines, and double images are all symptoms of a bad fuser. When you notice these printing defects and experience problems, such as paper jams or wrinkles, this is a good sign to replace the fuser kit.
Run a nozzle check to see if any of the print head nozzles are clogged. Then clean the print head, if necessary. The ink cartridges may be old or low on ink, and you may need to replace them. Your printed colors can never exactly match your on-screen colors.
If your PC or the LCD screen on your printer is telling you that your ink cartridges are full but no ink is passing through to the paper, then it`s most likely that you are dealing with a clogged printhead. Blurry documents and images that appear faded are also signs that it`s time to remove the excess ink.
If your printer is turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer. Keep the power plug unplugged for 60 seconds, reconnect the power cord to the wall, and turn on the printer. If the error persists, remove the cartridge from the printer, clean the cartridge contacts with a cloth, and reinstall the cartridges.
If your printer`s status displays “Printer in error state,” there may be a problem with the printer itself. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your PC by Wi-Fi or cable. Check it for low paper or ink, and be sure the cover isn`t open and the paper isn`t jammed.
Verify the toner cartridge is installed correctly.
If you install a new toner cartridge but the “Toner Low”, “Replace Toner” or “Toner Ended” error indication remains, the toner cartridge may not be installed correctly. Reinstall the toner cartridge, referring to the instructions on how to replace the toner cartridge.
The fuser unit or fuser is a critical part of any laser printer. Using pressure and heat, it fuses the toner powder onto the page to create a print, and without it, the printer cannot operate.
Push up on the release buttons on both sides of the fuser to release the springs, and then pull the fuser out of the printer. Place the old fuser aside for recycling. Remove the new fuser from its box. Remove the protective packaging.
50.2 error indicates that the printer is not heating up fast enough. This can be caused by a bad heating element in the fuser but can also be caused when the printer does not have adequate power due to overloaded circuits or being plugged into a power strip or surge bar that limits current flow.
Touchscreen control panels: From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Setup button. Open the Service menu. Select the Restore Defaults option, and then press or touch the OK button. The printer automatically restarts.
The reset is initiated by power on after being unplugged. Did you happen to replace it when it was turned off but still plugged in? If so, shut down, unplug, wait a few minutes and plug it in and turn it on.
