Just like computers, printers have volatile memory (RAM) that is removed when you turn the printer off. Volatile memory requires power to store the information. Deleting volatile memory is easy: Simply shut down or unplug your printer for a minute or so.
In Windows, a built-in service called Print Spooler temporarily stores all print jobs until they`re printed. These print jobs are stored by Windows as files in a folder associated with the Print Spooler service.
The queue is waiting for confirmation from the printer that the job is complete. Most printers do not have the ability to send the confirmation.
It simply allows a user to send a print job to the LaserJet Printer or MFP and the print job will be stored until the user releases it using a PIN Number. To enable Job Storage on your HP LaserJet Printer or MFP, do the following: Open the Windows Control Panel and double click on Devices and Printers.
Printers come with different types of memories to store large volumes of processed data and print jobs. They can include RAM, ROM, Flash memory, and a hard disk drive.
Even if your printer does not have a hard drive, it will have a small cache of memory from previous print jobs that may not automatically clear out after a job is complete. Understanding how to properly manage and dispose of devices with this kind of information is important to maintaining privacy and security.
From the My Printers window, click the ePrint History button for your printer. The print history queue displays. Items in your print history expire 30 days after they arrive. If you download, share, or reprint a file, the file remains in the print history for another 30 days.
To view a list of items waiting to print in Windows 10: Select Start > Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners .

The spooler is not specifically a print job spooler but a generic spooling function that can be used for queuing various types of jobs, including print jobs queued to a printer.

Job storage is the capability of a printer to store a print job on the target printer`s hard drive or in its memory. Job storage allows a print job to be stored and printed at the user`s convenience.

Toner-saver mode, sometimes referred to as eco-mode, focuses on using less toner on each page. To do this, the copier uses less toner on the area of the page that is being printed. It`s important to note that this mode doesn`t adjust or change how light or dark the printed pages are.
In the Event Viewer window, use the left pane to navigate to Applications and Services Logs > Microsoft > Windows > PrintService. Double-click the Operational log to view your print history. In the middle pane, you`ll see entries for various printer events. You can sort these entries by Date and Time or Task Category.
Modern printers are highly sophisticated devices. Most units today have some form of memory to store print jobs, whether it be a couple of megabytes or several gigs worth in a large office risograph. If your printer is connecting, but printing at such a slow rate it may as well not be, you`ve likely run out of memory.
When you click Save Print History on the File menu to enable the setting, the document printed from the preview is saved, and you can reprint the document with the same settings. Open the printer driver setup window. Then on the Maintenance tab, select View Print History.
