You may see a “printer offline” error if your computer can`t communicate with your printer. This can be caused by loose cable connections or an outdated printer driver or operating system. The HP Smart app (below) can automatically diagnose and resolve printer offline issues in Windows operating systems.
Make sure the USB or network cable is securely connected and not damaged. Make sure the router or switch cables are securely connected. Restart your computer and wait for it to reboot. Reconnect the power cable to the rear of the printer and into the wall outlet.
Restart devices
Restart your computer or mobile device and the printer. If you are using a network printer, restart the router to clear any error states.
Disable Use Printer Offline mode To turn it off, select Start > Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners. Then choose your printer and click Open queue. Under Printer, make sure Use Printer Offline is not selected.
If your printer is showing an offline message, it means it`s having a hard time communicating with your computer. There can be several reasons for this, from connectivity issues to a fault with your printer. Whatever the reason, there are several checks you can do to determine which issue you`re facing.
Select Start , then select Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners . Scroll down to Related Settings and select Print server properties. Select the Drivers tab, and see if your printer is listed. If it is, you`re all set.
The printer is either low in toner, the density is set too low, or the Economode may be turned on. Remove the toner cartridge and shake it. This will redistribute the toner and often will temporarily solve the problem. However, this usually indicates it is time to install a new cartridge.
Right click on the printer icon and select “Open Devices and Printers.” Check if your printer is offline.
Select the Start button, then select Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners. Under Add printers & scanners, select Add a printer or scanner. Choose the printer you want, and then select Add Device.
As said, a printer goes offline when it is not communicating to the PC. There are two possible reasons for that: it is turned off or (if it is wireless) the network it uses is different from what the PC uses. With this, ensure the printer is plugged in and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your PC.
