Print head alignment corrects the installation positions of the print head and improves deviated colors and lines. This machine supports two head alignment methods: automatic head alignment and manual head alignment. Normally, the machine is set for automatic head alignment.
If your printouts become grainy or blurry, you notice misalignment of vertical lines, or you see dark or light horizontal bands, you may need to align the print head. You can align the print head automatically from the control panel or your computer, or align it manually from the control panel.
If you have never gone through this process before, you may be wondering, “What is a printhead alignment?” In a nutshell, a printhead alignment synchronizes the paper feed with the movement of the printhead, ensuring you get the best print quality possible.
What is a Printhead? Printheads are a component in all types of digital printers that are used to transfer the desired image onto your chosen print media. The printhead will spray, write, or drop the ink onto your paper in the pattern needed to produce the finished image.

Another way to tell that your print heads are dirty is if your print jobs come out partially printed or streaky. If your printer display says that you`re low on ink but you have a full cartridge, this may also be a sign of a dirty printhead.

If your Epson printer is printing out faint images, skipping lines, or is streaking your image with lines, chances are you have a clogged nozzle–a common problem many users have with Epson printers. It`s unavoidable that print heads clog over time as small amounts of ink residue dry up and collect in the nozzles.

can't align print head horizontally despite running program
ANSWER : Don’t call that number, it’s a phishing scam number as far as I can tell. Last thing you want to do is have them remote into your computer (they may try hacking you in the background to try & steal bank info/saved passwords) or give them a CC number for tech help since they are not directly affiliated with Epson. As far as Epson’s site shows there is no toll free tech line, only 2 800s listed on their site and 1 is presales other is for supply orders.
