Look for a small piece of paper stuck inside the printer. Try a different toner cartridge. Remove any installed paper feed options. Narrowing the source of the noise to a specific feed option.
NOTE: If the paper guide is too tight against the rear edge of the paper stack, the machine may make a loud clicking noise since the gears that drive the tray up may be binding. Be sure to leave a very small gap at the rear edge of the paper stack before locking the tab. 3.
A clicking sound may occur if the stirring spring assembly inside the Toner Cartridge catches on a rib within the cartridge, preventing the stirring spring and its gear from turning. The resulting click is caused by the drum`s toner drive gear slipping against the stirring spring gear on the Toner Cartridge.
This could be because of dust particles in the printer. Follow these steps to clean the ADF`s pick rollers and separator pad. Gather the following materials: A clean, lint-free cloth, or any cloth that will not come apart or leave fibers.
A click is a unit of measurement the imaging industry uses to count an image produced by an MFP or other printing device.
If the clicking noise persists, you may need to replace the hard drive. If this doesn`t work, you should check your power supply and replace it. Then, you should run a disc scan to determine whether the hard drive is damaged. If the discs are not spinning, the noise may be caused by a problem with your hard drive.
When a computer fan spins loudly for a long period of time, there might be an issue with a fan, or the computer might be overheating. Adjust the power settings, clean the fan vents, check for suspicious processes, and then update the BIOS to help reduce the internal temperature.
Lightly dampen a clean, lint-free cloth with bottled or distilled water, and then squeeze any excess liquid from the cloth. Press the cloth against the rollers and rotate them upwards with your fingers.
Impact printers function by creating a direct contact between the ink-ribbon and the paper. These printers are noisy, yet popular.
First of all I just gave it a quick shot on the bottom of the cartridge (head section), any WD40 will be washed off or thru in a short period of time by the ink flowing through, maybe a few prints. I had no problem, my first print after using WD40 was fine. Run a few 4×6 thru first to be sure.
Printer Oil: Designed to lubricate internal components, printer oil is an essential part of regular printer maintenance, and should be applied after cleaning.
Currently in the lubrication in printing machines, the main cylinder bearings are lubricated with oil, grease – or one with oil and the other with grease. Grease must not only lubricate, but it must also prevent entry of any contaminants.
The noise you are describing could be the carriage sticking or a small piece of debris inside the unit. You could go thought each of these documents step by step to clean out your printer to see if it resolves the issue.
Excessive dust on the main pick-up roller will make it appear worn and smooth to the touch, causing the roller to skip across the page instead of grabbing properly, resulting in blurring images. Excessive dust on the rest of feed rollers in the scanner will make a squeaking sound as it feeds the paper through.

What repair needs to be done for a "50 needs repair" message on an HP Laserjet IIIP?
ANSWER : I don’t know what you mean by good toner cartridges. They haven’t been built in about 10 years, so if they are new OEMs in the box, they are guaranteed to fail. The 50 error on that printer is mostly a burned out fuser lamp. This site was sold, so as you can see, there are no more kits available.
