Noises During the Printing Process

The printer may make a buzzing, grinding sound during the print process if the Paper Tray 1 (Multi-Purpose Tray / MPT) pick roller is out of position. Opening and closing the tray or the Front Door will reset the roller position and eliminate the noise.

This noise can be due to any one of the following: A piece of paper, or other obstruction, is stuck somewhere inside the printer. One of the toner cartridges or photo developer units may be installed incorrectly or may be damaged. A door or cover may not be closed completely.
Laser Phaser Printers

They generate static electricity which draws toner onto the page, creating highly detailed text and images. Every single pixel gets the same amount of light, providing a crisp finish.

A grinding noise is typically caused due to paper jam, carriage jam, loose gears and rollers. Power resetting the printer, clearing any paper jams and cleaning the paper feed rollers may resolve the issue.
The noise level of non-impact printers is very low or negligible because they do not use striking mechanism in which printing head strikes on ribbon and paper, instead they use a process of laying ink or toner onto a paper which is virtually silent.
Whilst all printers will make a noise to some extent, the crown for the noisiest type of printer must go to the dot matrix printer.
If your printer keeps jamming, you should know that the most common cause of a jam is misalignment of the paper. Paper needs to load in smoothly, completely flush with the tray. Overfilling the tray is a great way to ensure you will be spending some personal time getting to know the inside of a printer.
A flanger repeats the audio back onto itself, creating a chorus-like effect. A phaser uses all-pass filters to achieve a delay-like effect. They sound similar, and both are useful—but only in moderation.
A click is a unit of measurement the imaging industry uses to count an image produced by an MFP or other printing device.
The noise you are describing could be the carriage sticking or a small piece of debris inside the unit. You could go thought each of these documents step by step to clean out your printer to see if it resolves the issue.
– If the grinding or clicking noise occurs, the toner cartridge is the cause. You will need to replace the toner cartridge (TN630 or TN660) to resolve this issue.
Line Printers

However, this type of printer cannot print graphics. Its printing is relatively low, and this printer makes a lot of noise. Examples of these printers are chains, drums, and bands.

Laser printers are not very noisy in operation. Compared to the thump-thump of an inkjet and the shriek of dot-matrix machines they are generally quiet. Larger printers do tend to have a couple of cooling fans and there will be the usual noises of pickup rollers, paper moving, cogs churning and clutches operating.

A beeping noise indicates your printer has encountered a “fail” condition. This fail condition should also display on the printer`s operator panel. The printer usually beeps in a pattern to indicate which hardware is failing.

Multiple paper feed
ANSWER : Most likely the pickup roller solenoid is sticking. The way it works is the solenoid energizes, pulling down a metal plate that releases the pickup roller. There is some foam on the base to quiet the clicking sound. The foam deteriorates and the plate sticks to the gooey residue. This allows the pickup roller to continue to turn instead of stopping after one revolution when the plate springs back up. That results in multiple paper being fed. Solution is to find the solenoid, which is at the end of the pickup roller shaft. Remove the sticky foam and preferably replace it with some thin sticky backed felt. You can find it at a hardware store as it is used on the bottom of chair legs.
