Paper tray 3 will not open.

Experienced technical support provide their insights in answering this question :
What usually happens in this instance is that the access flap to the left of the pickup roller pops up. This blocks the tray from opening. The only way to fix it is to look in from the back of the tray with a flashlight and get something thin and long, maybe a wooden ruler? Reach in and push down on the flap until it locks in place. If you’re not sure what I’m referring to, you can pull out and look at tray 2 for guidance.

Optional Tray 3 holds up to 500 sheets of 75 g/m2 paper.
Tray 3 extends out of the back of the printer when legal-size or A4-size paper is loaded.
This is a high capacity paper tray used for media size A4 (8.5 x 11″).
Open the System Setup menu, and then open the Paper Setup menu. Select the tray that you want to configure. Select Paper Type, and then select the desired paper type for the tray. Select Paper Size, and then select the desired paper size for the tray.
Click the Copy/Print or Print tab. Open the Manage Trays menu. Modify the tray settings.
While the 3-in-1 solutions can scan, copy and of course print, the 4-in-1 devices shine with another practical function. Here, the manufacturers integrate a fax. These functions turn a simple printer into a real multi-talent. After all, documents can no longer just be printed out.
Right-click your product, and then select Printing Preferences. From the Printing Preferences menu, select Paper/Quality. From the Paper Source drop-down menu, select Tray 2. From the Paper Size drop-down menu, select the appropriate paper size for the print job.
Tray 1 is the small slot in the front for manually feeding paper. The paper cassette which holds the paper and slides out is called tray 2.
3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, is a method of creating a three dimensional object layer-by-layer using a computer created design. 3D printing is an additive process whereby layers of material are built up to create a 3D part.
A paper tray is part of a printer and is used to store and feed paper to the printer. Generally printers will have multiple paper trays. Tray 1 or the bypass tray. The bypass tray on a printer is generally a fold down compartment that allows you to easily use different styles or sizes of paper.
Open Tray 1. Pull out the tray extension to support the paper. Use the adjustment latch to spread the paper guides outward. Load paper in the tray.
Click Start, point to Settings, and the click Printers. Right-click the appropriate printer, and then click Properties. Click the Paper tab, and then click the paper size you want to use in the Paper Size box.
The paper might not be engaged with the feed rollers. The paper-width guide is pressed against the paper stack too tightly. The paper tray is not completely inserted into the product. The paper settings in the print driver do not match the paper loaded in the paper tray.
Your printer should have been packaged with a USB cable regardless of whether it is a wireless or wired printer. Plug the cable into your printer and your computer`s USB port. The direct linking should trigger your computer to recognize the printer and start up the software needed to complete the installation.

Paper jam in tray 2 (but no paper pulled from tray) also M476DN models
ANSWER : Isopropyl alcohol is not recommended for rubber rollers. It dries out the rubber and hasten it’s cracking and breaking. It will do nothing to restore the grip. Those rollers are really hard to replace. It would be easy if that dumbass secondary menu really worked. None of the techs I’ve spoke to ever got into it. Everyone I know sends a print job and listens for the roller to rotate into position where you can pull it off.

Tray 1 (upper tray) paper feed problem
ANSWER : There is no way of adjusting the distance of lift. Could be that the pickup roller is worn enough that it will pick up a sheet that is higher, but not one that is lower down. You can look at the end of the roller that first makes contact and see if it is worn smooth.

Optional 250 Sheet Feeder Tray (Q5931A – Tray 3) Constantly "Jams"
ANSWER : You don’t say if the paper moves at all. That’s key in determining the cause. If it’s not moving, then try swapping the rollers with tray 2. If it is moving out of the tray, then that would indicate there is some obstruction it is hitting on its way out of the tray. Hard to troubleshoot remotely when one doesn’t have specific details since we can’t see what is occurring.
