A piece of paper stuck in the paper tray or inside the printer can create a paper jam. Paper jams can occur for a variety of reasons, such as overloading the paper tray, loading different thicknesses of paper in the tray, or using paper that isn`t appropriate for your particular printer.
The most common cause of paper jams is the paper; please check the user manual to make sure the media being used is recommended for the printer. Also, make sure the printer and driver setting match the paper type. When the printer displays Jam 2, the paper has failed to pass through the paper exit area.
Remove all printer paper from the tray and then reload it
If paper is stuck at the entrance to the printer, slowly and gently pull it out one sheet at a time, starting in the middle of the stack. Once you remove any large sheets, inspect the machine to make sure you haven`t left behind any small bits of paper.
If your printer won`t print, a print job has stopped unexpectedly, or you received a “carriage jam” error, your printer carriage is likely jammed. These jams occur when the carriage holding the ink cartridges stalls in the printer. Carriage jams sometimes occur after a paper jam.
your pickup roller is dirty and the printer can`t grab a piece of paper. it will say paper jam when it does this. get a drop of dishsoap and clean the pickup roller of your printer with this. scrape at it with your fingernail to get the roller clean and wipe it off with a damp washcloth.
A paper jam is when paper or other printed material gets stuck or lodged in a printer and cannot eject.
If you don`t run your printer that often, ink dries out, clogging your printheads. Even air bubbles in your ink cartridge can block the nozzle. But simple clogs can often be remedied by running a head cleaning cycle and nozzle check on your printer.

Check inside the printer for any debris that might be causing paper jams. Turn off the printer, and then unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet. Remove any paper from the input tray. Open the rear access door, and then clean the paper feed rollers with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with filtered water.

Paper Jam error but no paper jam
ANSWER : Obviously you didn’t get all the paper cleared out. There is a small scrap in the paper path causing the jam when the paper hits it. You can try clearing it out by inserting something stiff like a piece of file folder from the back of the printer into the paper path and pushing the offending piece out that way.

Paper jam in tray 2 (but no paper pulled from tray) also M476DN models
ANSWER : Isopropyl alcohol is not recommended for rubber rollers. It dries out the rubber and hasten it’s cracking and breaking. It will do nothing to restore the grip. Those rollers are really hard to replace. It would be easy if that dumbass secondary menu really worked. None of the techs I’ve spoke to ever got into it. Everyone I know sends a print job and listens for the roller to rotate into position where you can pull it off.
